Taylor Swift has provided everyone with a timely reminder as to why, at the end of the day, she's just like us - because it sounds like Swift has also been spending the past weekend being addicted to Phoebe Bridgers’ evocative new album, Lost Weekend.

Taking to her Instagram Stories for a rare post, the ‘Cruel Summer’ hitmaker reshares Bridgers’ album artwork, gushing, “It's her birthday but she gave us a gift - Haven't been able to stop listening. This album is an absolute triumph in every way”.

Swift goes on to praise Bridgers’ ability to convey the unique pain of loss, “To write about grief with such vulnerability and detail, and to trust the listener with this much honest”.

It's true that Bridgers’ portrayals of grief on Lost Weekend are deeply visceral, with ‘The Outside’ in particular feeling like an exploration of the broad spectrum of emotions that arise at Bridgers’ father's funeral. The California native has been open about how her father was abusive, adding to the complexity of her grief.

The global pop phenom concludes by wishing Bridgers a “Happy Bday...I love you!”, with Swift including a link for listeners to stream the Boygenius band-member's new album.

Swift and Bridgers have a storied track record of collaborations and on-stage link-ups, with Bridgers famously joining Swift on her Eras Tour to perform ‘Nothing New’ in Nashville. The duo teamed up for the song as part of Red (Taylor's Version), which arrived in 2021, with there being a great mutual respect between them.

We're hoping we'll get to hear these two genre-blurring trailblazers combining for another song in the not-too-distant future. Either way, in a musical landscape that often feels increasingly divided, it's heartening to see one of the biggest artists on the planet - if not the biggest artist - showing love to another fantastic artist.
