Taylor Swift has been named Time Magazine's 2023 Person of the Year, with the global megastar sitting down with the publication to discuss her re-rerecording process, her high-profile relationship with NFL player Travis Kelce and more.

The honour is bestowed each year to the person Time deems to have had the most influence and impact across the world over the course of the previous 12 months.

In 2023, Taylor Swift's Eras run became the biggest tour of the year, with Taylor also breaking a seemingly innumerable slew of records, including becoming the first woman to ever secure 13 No. 1 albums and the first living artist to secure 5 albums in the US Top 10.

With the ‘Cruel Summer’ hitmaker having released two new re-recordings in 2023, Speak Now (Taylor's Version) and 1989 (Taylor's Version), she continued to cement her dominance over the charts, with Taylor Swift being crowned Spotify's Top Artist last month.

It's therefore no surprise that Taylor Swift has earned the prestigious 2023 Person of the Year title from Time Magazine, with the Pennsylvania singer-songwriter delving into a variety of topics during her cover interview with the publication.

During the conversation, Taylor Swift touched on her gruelling 2023 touring schedule, admitting, “I knew this tour was harder than anything I’d ever done before by a long shot”, before explaining the work-out routine she adopted to help her prepare for each show, “Every day I would run on the treadmill, singing the entire set list out loud. Fast for fast songs, and a jog or a fast walk for slow songs”.

Elsewhere in the interview, Taylor Swift recalled how heartbroken she'd felt when she was forced to relinquish her coveted opening slot on Kenny Chesney's tour at the age of 17, due to his run of shows acquiring a beer company as a sponsor and requiring all performers to be over 21. Taylor explained how Kenny, who she has since performed with, made it up to her with a moving gesture.

As well as sending her a note on Taylor's 18th birthday that read, “I’m sorry that you couldn’t come on the tour, so I wanted to make it up to you”, Kenny included a sizeable cheque, “It was for more money than I’d ever seen in my life. I was able to pay my band bonuses. I was able to pay for my tour buses. I was able to fuel my dreams”.

In addition, Taylor Swift revealed that she'd already started dated Kansas City Chiefs player, Travis Kelce, during the summer, and that - contrary to popular belief - their famous outing as a couple during an NFL game in late September wasn't their first date.

By becoming Time Magazine's Person of the Year for 2023, Taylor follows in the footsteps of esteemed figures such as Greta Thunberg, Barack Obama and more, with Time's 2022 Person of the Year being Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky.
