As the excitement continues to build ahead of his fourth album, I'm the Problem, Morgan Wallen has shared a tantalising photo of him seemingly working on new music in the studio alongside his long-time collaborator and friend, HARDY.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, the Sneedville hitmaker uploaded the image of the duo laughing, alongside the caption, “Surely...”. HARDY reposted the photo, echoing, “Surely to God”.

It's not clear whether this “Surely” business is a subtle reference to an unreleased song they're cooking up, or whether it's just Morgan Wallen and HARDY underlining there was never any doubt the latter would be contributing to Wallen's album.

HARDY recently confirmed that he'd written some tracks for I'm the Problem, with the ‘TRUCK BED’ singer-songwriter revealing in an interview with Talkin’ Rock with Meltdown, “I've got a handful of songs that will be on the next Morgan Wallen record”.

Excitingly, this implies the tracklist for I'm the Problem has been locked in, if HARDY is aware of which of his songs have made the cut. Last month, Morgan Wallen shared a photo of him finalising the collection of songs that will be featured on the new record, with the playful caption, “Chopping block”. Judging by that photo, it seems I'm the Problem may comprise 37 tracks, which would make this Wallen's longest album to date - outpacing the 36-strong One Thing At A Time.

Morgan Wallen and HARDY have a storied collaborative track record, having penned an array of smashes together, as well as joining up as lead vocalists on fan-favourite duets such as ‘He Went to Jared’, ‘Red’, ‘Goin’ Nowhere’ and the revamped HIXTAPE Vol. 3: DIFFTAPE rendition of ‘John Deere Green’ with the late Joe Diffie. Morgan Wallen and HARDY have toured together since their early days, with the latter even making a cameo in the video for one of Wallen's first big hits, ‘Whiskey Glasses’.

As well as stirring up the hype ahead of I'm the Problem, this latest snap of Morgan Wallen and HARDY has sparked intrigue with for another reason, due to Wallen rocking a new look. The ‘Last Night’ chart-topper dons some spectacles, mirroring the aesthetic he opted for during the hilarious 2024 Ryl Tea advert with Caleb Pressley.

It comes after Morgan Wallen shared what look to be lyrics from an unreleased track on Friday (February 21st), featuring brooding lines such as, “Keep a loaded .44 sitting by the bed / For the jeepers and the creepers who ain't right in the head...Throw ‘em out from the start / Go around the horn / 3 up 3 down in the 1st”.

The darkness of these lyrics would certainly match the stormy ambience HARDY has been pursuing of late, so perhaps these lines are from Wallen's new HARDY collaboration.

Either way, the I'm the Problem rollout continues to heat up, and given the chemistry and creative energy that fizzles between Morgan Wallen and HARDY whenever they hit the studio together, we can't wait to see what they've got up their sleeves this time around.
