Sierra Ferrell has today treated fans to an alternative version of ‘The Sea’, one of the many stand-out songs from her widely acclaimed 2021 album, Long Time Coming.
Ferrell's stripped-back take on ‘The Sea’ pivots around a vibrant acoustic guitar, which opens with an energetic, staccato rhythm before transitioning partway through and taking on a more easygoing feel.
Ferrell is no stranger to playing around with reimagined renditions of her songs, with the West Virginia native having released alternative versions of a number of tracks from Long Time Coming, including ‘In Dreams’, ‘Silver Dollar’ and ‘Give It Time’.
The new release follows Sierra Ferrell's celebrated collaboration with fellow alt-country trailblazer, Margo Price.
The duo dropped a remix of Price's ‘Change Of Heart’ in March, shortly before the two singer-songwriters took the stage at Willie Nelson's Luck Reunion 2023.
Ferrell's burgeoning fanbase are eagerly awaiting news of her Long Time Coming follow-up, which listeners are hoping will be announced before the end of the year.
Sierra Ferrell is currently in the middle of her 2023 Long Time Going tour, with shows lined up in states such as Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Idaho, Oregon and more.
The rising star is also set to perform at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, on September 16 alongside Greensky Bluegrass.
