Ahead of kicking off the opening day of performances at C2C Festival 2025, Carpenter delved into her prolific creative partnership with Megan Moroney. The Georgia native was speaking at the Saloon Stage, hosted by Holler, with Holler's Ross and The Girls in Low Places’ Katie and Ozzy conducting the insightful interview.

Carpenter has co-written a slew of Moroney's monster hits, including the infectiously playful ‘I'm Not Pretty’, the swaggering ‘Indifferent’ and the enchanting ‘Hair Salon’.

The duo have established themselves as a modern-day country songwriting powerhouse, and Mackenzie Carpenter excitingly revealed that she's been working with Megan Moroney on new music, as Moroney gears up for her Am I Okay? follow-up album.

The fast-emerging prodigy, who recently released her widely lauded debut album, Hey, Country Queen, praised Megan Moroney's artistic prowess, toasting how she has carved out a unique path in the industry “by totally being herself and saying what she needs to say, and knowing what she wants to say”, before expanding, “Just seeing the way that she connects with people, it's been really fun to be a part of and without saying that, she's indirectly showed me how to do that”.

Mackenzie Carpenter went on to confirm she's been working on forthcoming music with Megan Moroney, “You absolutely can expect some more co-writes. She definitely has some exciting things in the can that we've already worked on and started working on”.

The ‘I Wish You Would’ hitmaker was quick to underline that, ultimately, Megan Moroney will make the call as to which tracks make the cut for her keenly anticipated new project.

Mackenzie Carpenter cautioned, “You never know until it's out. It's ultimately up to her if the songs that we write make it onto the record or not. But I always have my fingers crossed. I think that we work so well together because our little group, we are such good friends, and we really understand each other. We can truly be ourselves and cut up and have a fun time, while we're also doing what we love”.

In her captivating set at C2C Festival 2025's Saloon Stage, hosted by Holler and featuring guest presenters, The Girls in Low Places, Mackenzie Carpenter serenaded the packed-out audience with an array of stand-outs from Hey, Country Queen, as well as treating attendees to a stellar rendition of Megan Moroney's ‘I'm Not Pretty’.
