Riley Green paid tribute to country legend Toby Keith on Friday evening (October 4th), bringing out fellow country superstar Jelly Roll to conduct a huge singalong of Keith's 1993 smash hit 'Should've Been A Cowboy'.
There have been many a salute raised to the 'Wish I Didn't Know Now' singer during this year's festival season, who passed away on February 5, 2024. This one in particular felt like a celebration, with Jelly whipping his arms up to the packed crowd in a swell of choruses as Green belted out the popular tune.
Walking on to the stage to a massive cheer of his name, Jelly joked with the crowd, asking "did you think I weren't going to come and sing some cowboy music with my favourite cowboy?", pointing at Green.
While Green handled the first verse with a deep-throated bellow, Jelly took care of the second verse, ensuring the crowd stayed on their toes with a cheeky shout of "I can't hear y'all!", prompting a bellow of "and a prayer in my heart".
Riding the chorus all the way home before grasping each other in a big hug, Jelly and Riley doffed their caps in style to the Big Dog Daddy of country music with this joyful performance.
It's a big week for Jelly Roll, with the Nashville native releasing his new album, Beautifully Broken, this coming Friday (October 11). He's been celebrating in style, unveiling the tracklist for the record which will include his friends MGK and Whiz Kalifa.
Green, meanwhile, is no short of plans in his diary - his own new album, Don't Mind If I Do, hits streamers on October 18, with the title track featuring his good pal and duet-partner, Ella Langley.
This past weekend's Country Calling Festival also saw triumphant headline sets from Eric Church, Tyler Childers and Lainey Wilson, alongside performances from Bailey Zimmerman, The Red Clay Strays and more.
