During his electrifying set in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Post Malone treated his crowd to the live debut of ‘Dead at the Honky Tonk’, taken from his 2024 deluxe album, F-1Trillion (Long Bed).
The traditional-leaning anthem was released as part of the surprise extra nine songs that arrived just hours after the original F-1Trillion project dropped on August 16th, 2024.
‘Dead at the Honky Tonk’ is one of the many stand-outs from this bonus disc, which consists entirely of solo recordings. The heartbroken track finds Posty delivering a satisfying flurry of wordplay, as he recounts the tale of a man who is emotionally ‘killed’ in the local dive bar, following his lover's decision to leave him in her rearview.
Posty's live take at Cuyahoga Falls’ Blossom Music Center on Tuesday night (October 1st) captured the drama and gravitas of the studio version, with the ‘Guy For That’ crooner striding purposefully across the stage as he regaled the audience with the tragic tale.
Endearing, humble as ever, Post Malone introduced the stormy offering by warning attendees that it was his first time performing ‘Dead at the Honky Tonk’, and that he might therefore mess up the words. He didn't have anything to fear, however, with Posty providing a charismatic rendition of the decidedly, unashamedly country track.
In addition to ‘Dead at the Honky Tonk’, the Ohio crowd sang along to an array of fan-favourites from Post Malone's debut country album, F-1Trillion, such as ‘I Had Some Help’, ’Losers’, ‘Wrong Ones’, ‘Finer Things’, ‘California Sober’, ‘M-E-X-I-C-O’ and more.
As has now become tradition on Posty's 2024 F-1Trillion tour, the multi-Diamond-certified New York native also rattled off a slew of older rap hits, such as ‘Rockstar’, ‘White Iverson’ and ‘Psycho’, inventively giving them a fresh, country-inspired twist.
