Just a matter of hours after revealing he was flying to Los Angeles to record his long-awaited acoustic album, Parker McCollum has offered fans an update from the studio.

Alongside a photo of his recording set-up, the Texas native has excitingly confirmed he's making progress, “Halfway through. Grinding. It’s getting weird. My hands and head are hurting. It’s also getting insanely good (at times). What a journey so far”.

While we're not exactly sure what McCollum means by “It's getting weird”, we assume the ‘Pretty Heart’ crooner is testing out some slightly left-field and experimental new sounds.

And it's certainly reassuring to hear that the ‘I Ain't Going Nowhere’ singer-songwriter is happy with the results so far, outlining that, “It's also getting insanely good (at times)”.

It follows McCollum's surprise revelation that he was “LA bound”, adding, “4 days recording an acoustic album for you guys. No idea where this is about to go. We will find the edge”.

McCollum has been teasing this kind of project for the best part of two years, with the country chart-topper first discussing his desire to record an acoustic project with Holler in 2024.

We're glad to see he's finally decided to take the plunge and record it, and while it sounds like he's working his fingers to the bone during this intense, four-day recording retreat, we have no doubt that the resulting collection of songs will be well worth it.

It will mark McCollum's first album since his self-titled 2025 project, which drew plaudits for how stripped-back and raw it sounded, feeling like a welcome return to his Limestone Kid era. In many ways, therefore, it seems this acoustic project is an extension of the mentality McCollum adopted when working on last year's album.
