Megan Moroney has shared a moving, stripped-back cover of Kenny Chesney's fan-favourite, ‘Knowing You’, which featured on the country icon's acclaimed 2020 album, Here and Now.
Moroney's rendition of the wistful, bittersweet ballad features the ‘Am I Okay?’ hitmaker's distinctive, enchanting vocals coasting along the noodling strum of her acoustic guitar, with the Georgia native lacing an extra sense of emotion into each stirring lyric.
‘Knowing You‘ follows a protagonist that looks fondly back at a long-gone romance, as they wonder where their old flame is now (“Knowin' you, you probably got your toes in the sand / At a bar on a beach in the sun somewhere / Knowin' you, you got something cold in your hand / Chattin' up a stranger without a care”).
Megan Moroney and Kenny Chesney's friendship is one of the most endearing stories to have emerged within country music over the past 12 months, with the duo teaming up on-stage throughout Chesney's hugely popular 2024 Sun Goes Down stadium tour.
Megan Moroney kicked off 2025 by releasing a captivating live version of her current Country Radio single, ‘Am I Okay?’ with Kenny Chesney, recorded when Chesney surprised Moroney by inviting her to perform the uptempo earworm in front of his packed-out stadium crowd during his headline set in Foxborough, Massachusetts last August.
More recently, Kenny Chesney gushed over Megan Moroney's artistry and personality during an appearance on Audacy's Rob and Holly Show, while promoting his blockbuster 2025 Sphere Las Vegas residency, “She's really good, and you know what's crazy, is that Megan and I didn't know each other this time last year, and we've both had conversations after touring with each other this summer, and I can't imagine us not knowing each other now. That's how crazy that is”.
The ‘Just To Say We Did’ legend went on, “She was so great out there...and she's building her own beautiful, wonderful audience, and that's exciting to watch. The amount of people coming to her own shows now, and the way she's presenting herself, I don't know, I think she has the opportunity to do exactly what she's saying”.
With Megan Moroney continuing to tease new music ahead of her keenly awaited follow-up to 2024's Am I Okay?, we're hoping she has a Kenny Chesney duet up her sleeve.
Moroney has been sharing a number of posts from the islands of late, including a snippet of the unreleased ‘Table For Two’ from a sun-soaked boat, with some fans speculating that the country prodigy is exploring a more summery, Chesney-esque sound.
