Niko Moon is premiering his brand new single, ‘AMERICAN DREAMIN’, exclusively on Holler, ahead of the ‘GOOD TIME’ hitmaker's eagerly anticipated fourth studio album, ROOTS.

It finds Moon doubling down on the deeply personal and autobiographical spirit that underpins his next chapter, with the Georgia native regaling listeners with the story of his journey from a trailer-park to becoming a chart-topping country singer-songwriter.

In many ways, ‘AMERICAN DREAMIN’ feels like the cornerstone of ROOTS, with Moon allowing fans in on the struggles he faced on the road to success for the first time in his career. Across the beat-driven instrumental - which nods to Moon's Atlanta trap influences - he recalls, “Daddy drove a truck / Workin’ them double shifts / Momma waited tables / Grindin’ for them tips / Askin’ out that girl in class / Goodwill head to toe / Didn’t know that I was broke / ‘Til she let me know”.

Ever since he stormed onto the scene with ’GOOD TIME’ - a moment he references on ‘AMERICAN DREAMIN’ - Moon has been synonymous with his feel-good earworms and sunny, beachside anthems. But on this track, and indeed on the album as a whole, Moon allows fans to see a more vulnerable, introspective side of him.

Refreshingly, all the darker shades that Moon dips into on ‘AMERICAN DREAMIN’ and ROOTS are included with the purpose of accentuating the brighter, more hopeful hues. Moon remains an eternal optimist and a beacon of light in the contemporary country landscape, but on ‘AMERICAN DREAMIN’, he makes it clear that his breezy, glass-half-full perspective is not simply the result of an easy life.

Speaking to Holler ahead of the song's arrival, Moon muses, “‘AMERICAN DREAMIN’ is about my upbringing in Georgia, growing up in a trailer park and desperately wanting a better life. My life is an American dream story and this song is me telling it”.

The timing, therefore, couldn't be more apt, with Moon releasing ‘AMERICAN DREAMIN’ on Friday, July 3rd - the day before all the US Independence Day celebrations kick off.

The official ‘AMERICAN DREAMIN’ visualiser once again showcases Moon's talent for world-building around each project. While his previous offering, AMERICAN PALM, was accompanied by warm, laid-back clips of Moon on the beach and adorned in Hawaiian shirts (including items from his own AMERICAN PALM clothing line) his ROOTS videos explore a grittier scene. In the ‘GEORGIA (ROOTS)’ video, for instance, Moon takes fans back to the trailer-park setting of his childhood, and in the new ‘AMERICAN DREAMIN’ visualizer, he consolidates this imagery, with the ‘GET COUNTRY’ crooner seen praying around a modest dinner table, dancing with his friends on a hill and sat on the front-steps of a caravan.

But even as he recalls getting rejected by a class-mate due to his humble clothes and staring at holes in the ceiling, the ambience is never downtrodden or self-pitying.

Moon outlines how his family always made it clear to him that he didn't need money to be a ‘RICH MAN’, and that his dreams never felt limited or restricted by his surroundings.

Fans of Moon have always been aware of his songwriting prowess, and his ability to capture vibrant, evocative vignettes. But now, with ‘AMERICAN DREAMIN’, it finally feels like he'll get the credit he deserves as not just a hitmaker, but a storyteller.

Previously, through GOOD TIME, BETTER DAYS - another album that receives a subtle name-check on ‘AMERICAN DREAMIN’ - and AMERICAN PALM, it's felt as though Moon is creating music with a focus on the listener, crafting songs designed to heal, uplift and comfort fans. Across ROOTS, the intention is still the same, but Moon has shifted the emphasis onto himself, sharing his own story in more depth than ever before. In doing so, although it might sound counterintuitive, he creates his most rewarding, moving and resonant listening experience to date.

“American dreamin’
Made for more than getting by
Knew that I was meant to fly
Through the struggle, Lord
I never stopped believing
Kept on pushing, kept the faith
Knew that I’d see better days
Layin’ in that trailer starin’ holes in the ceiling
American dreamin’

Daddy drove a truck
Workin’ them double shifts
Momma waited tables
Grindin’ for them tips

Askin’ out that girl in class
Goodwill head to toe
Didn’t know that I was broke
‘Til she let me know

Praying, praying
For a sign that things will change, change
Had to bend to keep from breaking, breaking
Told myself that I was never gonna stop
From the bottom to the top

American dreamin’
Made for more than getting by
Knew that I was meant to fly
Through the struggle, Lord
I never stopped believing
Kept on pushing, kept the faith
Knew that I’d see better days
Layin’ in that trailer starin’ holes in the ceiling
American dreamin’

Dropped outta college
Started playin’ in them college bars
Singing them cover songs
For free beer and a cover charge
Made my way to music city in my whip
Wrote a song about a GOOD TIME
And it became a hit

American dreamin’
Made for more than getting by
Knew that I was meant to fly
Through the struggle, Lord
I never stopped believing
Kept on pushing, kept the faith
Knew that I’d see better days
Layin’ in my bedroom starin’ holes in the ceiling
American dreamin’

Praying, praying
For a sign that things will change, change
Had to bend to keep from breaking, breaking
Told myself that I was never gonna stop
From the bottom to the top

American dreamin’
Made for more than getting by
Knew that I was meant to fly
Through the struggle, Lord
I never stopped believing
Kept on pushing, kept the faith
Knew that I’d see better days
Layin’ in my tour bus starin’ holes in the ceiling
American dreamin’

I was American dreamin’
You know I was American dreamin’
Every step I kept American dreamin’
To this day I’m still American dreamin’
American dreamin’
American dreamin’
I’m an American dreamin’”
