Kristen Saban, the daughter of legendary Alabama Crimson Tide football coach Nick Saban, has clapped back at fans after seeing complaints that Morgan Wallen - a Tennessee Volunteers supporter - is headlining Bryant-Denny Stadium this weekend.
Crimson Tide and the Volunteers have been SEC arch-rivals for over a century, with many a country song being penned about the infamous competition, including Wallen's own gem, ‘Tennessee Fan’. We doubt he'll be performing this one in Alabama this weekend, unless he really wants to be a little cheeky and poke the bear...
In the comments section of a new post from the official Alabama football account, which featured an image of a Crimson Tide jersey with “Wallen” emblazoned across the back, a handful of fans have been expressing their outrage at the fact that the Sneedville native is being boldly welcomed into their fortress.
Kristen has wasted no time in replying, “Some of you have zero clue how concerts and tours work and it shows”. Kristen's views hold credence as a longstanding member of the Crimson Tide family, with her father, Nick, one of the most revered Alabama coaches of all time, taking the helm for an impressive 17 years.
Given how Kristen has rushed to Wallen's defence in this way, we're wondering if the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper might decide to invite Nick and Kristen for his pre-show walk-out this Saturday. Wallen has a habit of bringing sports icons with him during this much-loved part of his live show, and was joined by Joe Mauer and Jared Allen during his opening double-header in Minneapolis earlier in the month.
With this marking the first concert at Crimson Tide's Bryant-Denny Stadium in in over 30 years, Wallen's blockbuster show is set to be a truly momentous occasion for the city. Although there has been some grumbling from Crimson Tide loyalists, we think the rivalry will disappear from fans’ minds once he storms onto the stage. The colossal concert is expected to draw a whopping 100,000 attendees.
We're not sure Wallen will go as far as wearing a Crimson Tide jersey, given how much he loves his Tennessee Volunteers, but he might pay homage to another of Alabama's popular, non-football-related sports teams by donning one of their kits instead.
Either way, Wallen's show here, which takes place on April 18th, 2026 and features support from Ella Langley, Vincent Mason and Zach John King, is sure to be a spectacular event, and will hopefully open the door for more concerts at the iconic venue.
