Morgan Wallen's father, Tommy Wallen, has shared the third instalment of his weekly faith-based radio series, Tommy's Sunday Seven. In the seven-minute episodes, Tommy - a Tennessee-based pastor - chronologically breaks down verses in the Bible.

It's a quietly enchanting series designed, in his own words, for those who are “curious” about their faith, with Tommy repeatedly stressing he is not trying to force his beliefs on anyone.

He begins by expressing his gratitude for the chance to speak to fans of Morgan via Morgan Wallen Radio on SiriusXM, “I'm really excited about this opportunity, I have been a follower of Jesus Christ since July of 1991. You may be a follower also, may not be sure, or may not be at all. All I'm asking is for seven minutes of your time each Sunday to help you decide where you are and where you're headed on this journey called life. We ask as the Psalmist did in Psalm 119, Verse 18: “Open our eyes that we may carefully study wonderful things from your word””.

Tommy expands, “‘God said’, or ‘God's word’...I am laying a foundation for those who are curious but don't have any knowledge about the Bible. Again, I'm not trying to force what I believe on you, just give you a chance to make an informed decision”.

He follows on from last week's episode, in which he delved into the creation story of Genesis, “Once we decide there's a God who created everything, our next decision has to be: ‘Is the Bible God's word? Did God speak? Does God still speak? And if so, can I hear Him, and how?’ God spoke everything into existence”.

Tommy proceeds to highlight the transformative power of God's word in the Bible, “The word “God said” is used 10 times in Genesis Chapter 1...Numbers have a meaning in the Bible, and the No. 10 means Divine Order, Divine Completeness or Divine Law...So her we see we have a complete creation account in Genesis, Chapter 1. We also see very clearly and importantly that God speaks. Not only did God speak everything into existence, but God spoke to people. We have many accounts given to us where God spoke to people throughout the Bible”.

He then reflects on the pertinence of how God's first words to mankind come in the form of a choice, and how, ultimately, they make the wrong one, “I find it interesting, the first time God speaks to mankind, He's giving them a choice. Remember in the first episode I said that life is about choices, and the truth about choices is we get to decide the choices, but we don't get to determine the consequences”.

He addresses listeners’ potential concerns about the relevance of quoting scripture in today's landscape, emphasising that God's word is just as vital today as it was when it was written down in the Bible - if anything, he implies, it may be even more so.

He muses, “You may be thinking, ‘Well, that's all in the past. What about today?’ Well, I'm glad you asked. I'm gonna give you a lot of verses from the Bible so I would recommend that you write ‘em down and then look ‘em up later. God speaks to us today through His word”. Tommy concludes be referencing Isaiah 40:8, which highlights the eternal accessibility and relevance of God's word, ‘The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of God remains forever’”.

When Tommy's Sunday Seven was first announced, Tommy explained the premise behind the faith-based radio series, “Each week, our time will be spent looking into the Bible. I’m not going to try to force what determines how I live on you. I just want to share with you what brought me out of a life of hopelessness because of alcoholism and drug addiction. We will approach this as if none of us have any knowledge of the Bible, so we can begin this journey together”.

So far, it's served as a welcome moment of meditation for many, whether they are longstanding members of the Christian community or are exploring their faith anew. Each episode of Tommy's Sunday Seven airs on Sunday at 9am, 11am, 1pm, and 3pm ET.

Elsewhere on Morgan Wallen Radio, Tommy hosts Family Tradition, in which he also touches on his faith, but also speaks about his relationship with Morgan, his upbringing and more.
