During the opening night of his European tour, Morgan Wallen treated his first ever Sweden crowd to another special first: the live debut of his unreleased fan-favourite, ‘Love Somebody’.
Morgan Wallen has been teasing the breezy, uptempo track since May, with the Sneedville megastar sharing a video alongside the caption, “I feel like this one’s gonna sound good on the boat”.
It spread like wildfire across TikTok, with fans clamouring for the ‘Thought You Should Know’ singer-songwriter to make ‘Love Somebody’ available to stream as soon as possible.
Now, with Morgan adding it to his setlist for the first tour-stop of his European run, it seems we may be nearing a release date. In the lead-up to the arrival of the long-teased ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’ on July 4, he performed it regularly during his US One Night At A Time shows, and it looks like he's taking the same approach with ‘Love Somebody’.
Before performing the heartbroken track, Morgan Wallen warned fans that this was somewhat of an experiment, “I've never played it on-stage with my band before, so this is gonna be the first time, we're gonna give it a shot. It's called ‘Love Somebody’”.
They had no need to worry, as Morgan delivered a sleek, sinuous rendition of the track, with his band cushioning his signature drawl with a swirling, synth-laden backdrop.
It's the first time we've heard the second verse of ‘Love Somebody’, which finds Morgan Wallen doubling down on the forlorn, despondent ambience of the opening lines.
For the infectious hook, he croons, “I just wanna love somebody, who won't leave a hole in my heart / I just wanna love somebody, that don't want me fallin' apart / And I'd be lucky if I ever find, something more than just a crazy night / I just wanna lovе somebody”.
Morgan Wallen is currently readying his One Thing At A Time follow-up album, which is expected to include both ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’ and ’Love Somebody’, along with other recently teased songs such as ‘I Guess’, ‘Good to See You Smile’ and ‘Come Back as a Redneck’.
