Morgan Wallen is opening up about his love for hunting via a new show on SiriusXM's Morgan Wallen Radio, with Wallen explaining how he first got into duck-hunting and fishing.

As part of his new Hunting Season series, which is presented by Field & Stream, the ‘Thought You Should Know’ singer-songwriter shares an insight into his hunting practices, his outlook on the activity, the people that have taught him and more.

In one of the first episodes in this new series, Wallen reflects, “There's quite a few guys who have taught me...pretty much everything I know about hunting. I didn't start hunting until 2020, went duck hunting with a couple of my buddies and fell in love with it”.

He goes on, “I've always loved the outdoors, you know, but around that time I just started to value time alone and in nature. And hunting, I started just understanding, you know, the full scope of what it is and the way to do it, you know, in a [way that's] respectful, in a way that showcases honour, in a way that, you know, conserves”.

The ‘Last Night’ chart-topper expands on how the social element is another major draw for him, “I started to dig into it, and really love, you know, the actual hunting aspect. But also just the fellowship aspect as well is a huge part of hunting for me, just being able to spend that time with your friends around the fire and talk about your life...It ends up being some of your best times of the whole year, when we're doing that. So super grateful that that's been brought into my life”.

We've heard Wallen speaking about his penchant for hunting on a number of occasions previously, but this is the first time he's really delved into the ‘why’ behind his love for it.

Given Wallen is a co-founder of the outdoors lifestyle brand, Field & Stream, with his buddy Eric Church, and the Sneedville native often incorporates hunting into his music, so this Hunting Season series feels like a organic extension of his brand.

It's also refreshing to hear him doubling down on comments he made during his Drury Outdoors hunting expedition earlier in the year about the importance of conservation and “respectful” hunting, where there is a sense of honour for the animal's life. Given the backlash a lot of modern country stars such as Ella Langley and Cody Johnson have received lately for hunting, Wallen offers some clarity as to why it isn't necessarily the inhumane and cruel sport many perceive it to be.
