Morgan Wallen and Peyton Manning were in attendance at the Charles Schwab Field Omaha as the Tennessee Volunteers secured their first ever NCAA College World Series title.
The Vols triumphed in Game 3 of their three-match contest with Texas A&M in Omaha, Nebraska. After losing the first and clawing their way back for a win in Game 2 to level the playing field, the Vols won out in the decider with a spectacular 6-5 victory.
Both Morgan Wallen and former NFL star Peyton Manning are known to be huge Volunteers fans, with the duo often spotted at Vols baseball, basketball and football games.
The two good buddies were euphoric as the game concluded, with Morgan Wallen and Peyton Manning leaping to their feet and high-fiving those around them, before sharing a celebratory embrace. They've been friends for years, with Peyton helping Morgan announce his 2024 One Night At A Time tour dates last year via a hilarious video, while the ‘Everything I Love’ crooner brought Peyton's brother, Eli, along for his famous walk-out during his New Jersey show last month.
In his social media update on Wednesday, June 19th, as well as teasing new music and discussing his recent collaboration with Moneybagg Yo, ‘WHISKEY WHISKEY’, Morgan Wallen ended his message by adding in a separate clip, “Go Vols!” The following Sunday, however, Morgan deactivated his Instagram account, with many taking this is a tantalising sign he's gearing up to make a big announcement.
The ‘Last Night’ hitmaker has penned a number of tracks referencing his love of sports, with his One Thing At A Time stand-out ‘Tennessee Fan’ written about a love story pivoting around the famous Volunteers football rivalry with Alabama Crimson Tide (“Yeah, she was raised Roll Tide 'til the day she died / But ever since that night she's been a Tennessee fan”). ‘Had Me By Halftime’, taken from Morgan Wallen's acclaimed debut album, If I Know Me, also explores a romance sparked at a Tennessee Volunteers football game, with Morgan continuing to highlight the impact sports has had on him via his foundation, which made a $100,000 donation to restore Jefferson City youth baseball fields earlier in June.
With Morgan Wallen currently readying his One Thing At A Time follow-up, given how strong both ‘Tennessee Fan’ and ‘Had Me By Halftime’ are, we're hoping he's been working on another sports-themed song or two - perhaps even on inspired by the Volunteers’ momentous victory in the NCAA College World Series this week.
