Morgan Wade has confirmed she'll be releasing her hotly anticipated sophomore record, Psychopath, on August 25.
The new album follows the Virginia native's critically acclaimed debut album, Reckless, which spawned an array of fan-favourites, such as ‘Wilder Days’, ‘Northern Air’ and ‘Last Cigarette’.
Two years on, Wade is returning with Psychopath, a thirteen-track project that'll feature contributions from an array of top-tier songsmiths, including Wade herself, whose lyrical rawness and vulnerability helped make Reckless the stellar offering that it was.
Fans will be glad to see Sadler Vaden is back at the helm for the production of the new album, with Vaden having thrived in the same role throughout Morgan Wade's Reckless sessions.
Speaking ahead of the Psychopath unveiling, Morgan Wade underlined that the new record serves as the perfect snapshot as to the creative space she currently finds herself in, “Regardless of what people say about Psychopath, I’m proud because I feel like it showcases where I’m at with my sophomore album. I have no choice but to be authentic. And I have to feel what I feel. And right now, I’m really feeling the music”.
The title-track will be released on Friday, May 19, with Wade emphasising that, despite the images that the name might conjure up, ‘Psychopath’ is actually a surprise love song.
It's already been a busy year for Morgan Wade, with the country prodigy having recently appeared on Diplo's genre-blending project, Thomas Wesley: Chapter 2 - Swamp Savant.
Wade is hitting the road hard throughout the summer and fall, with tour dates lined up in support of Eric Church and Turnpike Troubadours. Morgan Wade is also due to perform at the UK's inaugural Highways Festival at the Royal Albert Hall this Saturday, May 20.
