Chart-topping DJ, Diplo, is once again venturing into the colourful, fast-growing territory that lies between country and EDM.
He's reprising his role as his country alter-go for the second instalment of his Thomas Wesley album series, entitled Chapter 2 - Swamp Savant, which will serve as the sequel to 2020's Snake Oil.
Just like in 2020, Diplo has recruited a powerful combination of up-and-coming artists and big-name acts within country music, with Parker McCollum, Koe Wetzel, Sierra Ferrell, Sturgill Simpson and more joining the Mississippi DJ for Swamp Savant.
Ahead of the record, Diplo released ‘Wasted’, featuring Koe Wetzel and Kodak Black, and ‘Use Me‘, with Dove Cameron and Sturgill Simpson. The latter appears under his ‘Johnny Blue Skies’ alias.
Parker McCollum appears by himself on Swamp Savant's ‘Lonely Long’, while Lily Rose is also the only guest on the opening song of the new album, ‘Sad in the Summer’.
One of the most exciting new voices in the contemporary Americana, folk and alt-country scene, Sierra Ferrell, has linked up with Diplo and Paul Cauthen for ‘Rain On My Mind’, another hotly anticipated collaboration on the Swamp Savant tracklist.
Morgan Wade's ‘Never Die’ completes Diplo's Swamp Savant setlist, with Wade's charismatic, rough-around-the-edges vocal style sure to introduce a sense of grittiness to Diplo's sleek sound.
With Diplo due to perform his annual DJ set at Stagecoach this weekend, he'll no doubt be playing a range of tracks from Swamp Savant. Fans will also be hoping he dusts off some of the highlights from Snake Oil, such as the Morgan Wallen-assisted ‘Heartless’.
