Margo Price has released her rendition of Willie Nelson's classic track, ‘Shotgun Willie’.

The song originally appeared in 1973 on Willie's much-loved album of the same name.

Price's version of ‘Shotgun Willie’ will feature on the upcoming Willie Nelson tribute album, One Night in Texas: The Next Waltz's Tribute to the Red-Headed Stranger, which is set to be released on April 28, the day before Willie's 90th birthday.

Price injects the iconic hit with a swaggering sense of freedom, and builds out the song into an electrifying, uptempo anthem.

Margo Price and Willie Nelson's friendship goes back a long way, with Willie lending his vocals to Price's 2019 track, ‘Learning to Lose’. The two artists also teamed up to release their own cannabis strain.

It's a milestone year for Willie, and Texas-based record label, The Next Waltz, is honouring the living country legend with a brand new tribute album, featuring a star-studded roster of artists.

The upcoming project will feature Willie Nelson covers performed by the likes of Sheryl Crow (‘Nightlife’), Ray Wylie Hubbard (‘Whiskey River’), Vincent Neil Emerson (‘Bloody Mary Morning’) and more.

One Night in Texas: The Next Waltz's Tribute to the Red-Headed Stranger was recorded during Willie Nelson's 89th birthday celebrations at his famous Luck Ranch, Texas.

The production of the record has been helmed by veteran singer-songwriter, Bruce Robison.
