Luke Grimes has said that he thinks country singer Chris Stapleton would make a good bad guy.
Grimes made his screen debut as the nation’s favourite cowboy, Kayce Dutton, back in 2018 on Paramount’s Yellowstone series. He’s now the star of his own spinoff show, ‘Marshals’. Both shows have seen Grimes, a musician himself, acting alongside country music stars like Ryan Bingham, Lainey Wilson and most recently, Riley Green.
In an interview with ‘Woman’s World,’ Grimes said that he would like to see fellow musician Chris Stapleton take to the big screen.
“I always said I thought Chris Stapleton would play a really good bad guy,” Grimes said, “If he reads or hears this, we’d love for you to come on the show.”
We can see it now, Stapleton with his feathered cowboy hat, rolling through town on his white horse (we couldn’t resist), ready for some dodgy wheelin’ and dealin’. The shadow cast on his face from the wide brim of his hat hides a scar from a fight that almost ended it all. Somewhat of a legend amongst thieves, Stapleton is behind some of the biggest heists across the states, but no one can prove it. Enter: Kayce Dutton.
Or something like that.
Country musicians have side-stepped into acting for a while now, with icons like Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Dwight Yoakham, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Kris Kristofferson praised for their performances on screen.
Maybe that’s because the truly successful country musicians are comfortable in their vulnerability, making the lane shift to acting more accessible and achievable, especially when that role happens to be set on a ranch, like Marshals.
Chris Stapleton, the ball’s in your court...
