It's safe to say that Lainey Wilson's meteoric rise has caught the attention of many within the country music world - but now, Lainey is turning the heads of mainstream listeners and tastemakers as well.

On March 1, Lainey Wilson received the Rulebreaker award at the 2023 Billboard Women in Music Awards.

When accepting the accolade, Lainey paid tribute to her fellow trailblazers in a touching speech, “I am so inspired by the women that lean into the things that make them different and unique, and I am so blessed to be surrounded by women who have lifted me up”.

Earlier in the evening, Lainey Wilson serenaded the LA audience with a soulful, piano-driven rendition of her hit single, ‘Heart Like A Truck’, which remains in the Top Ten of Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.

The ceremony recognised the women that have been shaping and transforming the music industry across a variety of genres in the past year, with Lana Del Rey, Becky G, Latto, Doechii, Ivy Queen, Kim Petras and Twice all receiving accolades.

Chart-topping R&B artist, SZA, was honoured with the ‘Woman of the Year’ award.

The honourees received their awards at Los Angeles’ YouTube Theater, with Emmy-winning actress and writer, Quinta Brunson, taking over the hosting duties for the evening.

The news that Lainey Wilson would be receiving the Rulebreaker award came shortly after another prestigious accolade was picked up by the Louisiana native.

In January, Lainey became the first woman in over a decade to notch up two songs in the Top Ten of the Mediabase chart - ‘Heart Like A Truck’ and the HARDY-assisted ‘wait in the truck’.

Now that Lainey has been given her 2023 Billboard Women in Music Rulebreaker award, she'll be returning immediately to her hugely popular Country With A Flare tour, with a show booked at The Intersection in Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 2.
