As we inch closer and closer to the end-of-year award season, more and more exciting news keeps dropping.
With the second annual People's Choice Country Awards just around the corner, set to take place at the historic Grand Ole Opry on September 26, it has been unveiled that genre-bending hitmaker Kane Brown will be honored with the Country Champion Award at this year's ceremony.
Last year being bestowed to country stalwart Wynonna Judd, the trophy serves to honor the passion for an artist's service and groundbreaking contributions to the country music industry and beyond.
“Since the beginning of his career, Kane Brown has ensured that his legacy will extend beyond music,” shares Jen Neal, Executive Vice President, Live Events and Specials, NBCUniversal Entertainment. “His dedication to empowering and supporting younger generations is nothing short of inspiring, and we’re thrilled to honor him with the Country Champion Award.”
This won't be the first – or likely the last – time that Brown has been celebrated in this way. Going back to 2022, the award-winning singer-songwriter was honored with the Boys & Girls Club’s prestigious Champion of Youth Award in recognition of his commitment to serving young people.
With an astounding 11 No. 1 singles at country radio across his discography, the Georgia native first made waves with the arrival of his self-titled, 2x-Platinum debut album in 2016. Making him the first artist ever to lead all five of Billboard’s main country charts simultaneously, he clinched the top spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart for 13 weeks and earned two of the most-streamed country songs of all time, including the Diamond-certified 'Heaven' and 9x Platinum 'What Ifs'.
One of country music’s most accomplished mainstays and most revered global entertainers, he has spent the last few years headlining internationally sold-out tours, expanding country music and breaking musical boundaries.
Brown will join previously announced honoree Miranda Lambert, who will be presented with the Country Icon Award during the highly-anticipated ceremony.
Recognizing and celebrating the biggest and best that country music has to offer, and chosen entirely by the fans, the 2024 People's Choice Country Awards will be hosted by icon Shania Twain. Broadcasting live from Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House, the show will air on September 26 at 7pm CT on NBC and Peacock.
