The Shoals in Alabama have a storied musical history thanks, in large part, to the famed Muscle Shoals Sound Studio.

After launching ShoalsFest in 2019 to bring major acts to the area, singer/songwriter and Alabama native Jason Isbell has announced its return this fall - and the lineup looks stacked.

Besides Isbell's 400 Unit, he's tapped Drive-By Truckers, Lucinda Williams, Candi Staton, Amanda Shires, Centro-Matic, Slobberbone, Cedric Burnside, Pine Hill Haints and Farmer Jason to perform.

Unlike the festival's debut in 2019, this year's version expands the experience from one day to two. It'll take place October 2-3 in Florence's McFarland Park.

"We had a whole lot of fun in 2019, so we’re excited to get back to McFarland Park", Isbell said. "It’s the perfect place to enjoy world-class artists and the beauty of the Singing River.

These acts are all personal favorites of ours, and we’re proud to bring them to our hometown and show them a good time. I hope y’all are as excited as we are about ShoalsFest 2021".

The festival will limit tickets to 7,000, which go on sale this Friday, June 11 at 10 a.m. CT.

Last year, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit released their new album Reunions. It went on to garner three Americana Music Awards nominations, for Album of the Year, Artist of the Year (Isbell), and Song of the Year ('Dreamsicle').

Isbell and his former Drive-By Truckers bandmates also announced a 4-LP boxset of their 'Live At The Shoals Theatre' performance.

Earlier this year, Isbell collaborated with wife Amanda Shires on her track 'The Problem', performing it live together on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. She later released an all-female version.

Catch up on Holler's 'In Conversation' feature with Shires.
