During a conversation with Troy Cartwright for his Ten Year Town Podcast, Jake Worthington has shared how he ended up performing with Post Malone at Stagecoach Festival 2026, as well as revealing that the duo have been working on new music together.

Post surprised his Indio, California crowd at Stagecoach last month by bringing Worthington on-stage to perform a special duet version of George Strait's iconic hit, ‘Give It Away’.

When asked how they first crossed paths, Worthington explains that they'd been in contact for a long time, and they've even been writing together. Worthington confirms ERNEST and Chandler Walters were in the room - two key collaborators on Post's 2024 F-1Trillion record - so we suspect these sessions were geared towards the ‘I Had Some Help’ hitmaker's mysterious new album, The Eternal Buzz. The forthcoming project - which is yet to be given a release date - is rumoured to be a double-album, with one half expected to be country, while the other will potentially see a return to Post's trap-leaning Stoney era.

Worthington recalls, “I met Post - or Austin, as I like to call him - a while back. And again, this is because of my affiliation with Big Loud, I've gotten to meet a lot of them writers, you know, the Block brothers and ERNEST...and Chandler. Man, them boys have been good to me. And they all work with Austin and Morgan [Wallen]”.

He goes on, “I've been asking [Rocky and Grady Block] for a while, ‘Man, what's it like writing in them big old rooms, where's there's eight, nine people in there? What's it like?’ They're like, ‘Man, you just got to know what you're good at, what you can give to the song, and know when to shut up’...I have to learn how to do that!”

Worthington goes on to share that Post then invited him to one of his writing sessions, “But I've been interested in how their process is with that stuff. Somehow or another, [Austin] invited me to write, and all them boys were there. So it was really fun”.

He adds, “Charlie Handsome was there, the producer. You know, he's brilliant, man. I mean...I was floored with just where their minds go. So anyhoo, we wrote songs. We've known each other. We drank beer together. We hung out...I ain't seen him in a while, but, yeah, he reached out, asked me to go sing one and I said, ‘Hell yeah, I will’”.

The ‘It Ain't The Whiskey’ crooner pays tribute to Post's deep respect for the genre, “He loves country music...When you go backstage with him...we're drinking the same water”.

It's possible, of course, that Worthington and Post were working on material for the former's next project. But the presence of Post's go-to co-writers definitely feels like a strong indication that these writing sessions were intended for The Eternal Buzz.

We're hoping there will be news of a release date and tracklist in the coming weeks, with Post teasing that there will be a staggering total of 40 songs across the two discs.

Post's official fan-club account, Extra Posty, hinted that Track No. 1 of Disc 1 will be feature another artist, and if F-1Trillion is anything to go by, we imagine The Eternal Buzz will be a highly collaborative project. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed that Worthington appears at least once on the album, with his neo-traditional style sure to blend perfectly with Post's penchant for old-school country music.
