Morgan Wallen is famously very private when it comes to his personal relationships, so whenever he drops a new song, fans inevitably start attempting to decipher and decode every last syllable as they try to figure out who he wrote it about.
Due to the fact that the Sneedville megastar never speaks on his private life, listeners often end up assuming that any heartbreak tracks are still about his long-term romance with social media influencer, KT Smith. The couple dated from 2016 and 2019, and were even engaged at one point, before welcoming their son, Indigo, in 2020.
With Morgan Wallen releasing the title-track from his keenly anticipated 2025 album, I'm the Problem, at the end of January, a number of Wallen fans have been flooding KT Smith's comments sections claiming the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper is singing about her.
Everyone has their own way of dealing with internet trolls, but it's safe to say KT Smith's method is particularly hilarious, with Smith lip-syncing to Morgan Wallen's song and sharing a tongue-in-cheek announcement that ‘I'm the Problem’ is indeed about her.
In the new clip, KT Smith mouths the words as the opening verse and chorus plays, “You say I'll never change / Just to go around town with some gasoline / Just trying to bum a flame / Gonna burn the whole place down / And how do you explain / Ever fallin' in love with a guy like me in the first place / Turn around and say that I'm the worst thing / I guess I'm the problem / And you're Miss Never Do No Wrong”.
In the caption, KT Smith responds to a follower that commented, “I think she was the “problem”” by joking, “yall are all so right!! its me :)”. It comes shortly after Smith announced her split from her husband of nine months, Luke Scornavacco, in January.
KT Smith has appeared on Bunnie XO's Dumb Blonde Podcast this week to discuss her impending divorce and her high-profile relationship with Morgan Wallen. Bunnie has taken to the comments on Smith's new video to offer her support against any social media trolls, “That’s my girl 👏🏻 💖 Keep shining - no one know your heart”.
One follower expressed their desire for KT Smith and Morgan Wallen to rekindle their flame, but got confused with another of Wallen's rumoured exes, Megan Moroney, “I hope Megan [and] KT get back together”. Smith again showcased her great sense of humour, responding, “I love Megan”, before the fan clarified, “I meant Morgan. 😁”.
When another follower outlined a similar hope, “That man still loves you …. I feel like most of his song are sung on your behalf!”, KT Smith quipped, “okay now i wouldn’t go that far 😂”.
One of Morgan Wallen's fan-favourite unreleased songs, ‘Always Have, Always Will’, has been making the rounds once again on TikTok, with Wallen seemingly penning the sweet love-song for KT Smith when they were together. This is believed to be the reason it's never been made available, with fans clamouring for an official release.
With the ‘Thought You Should Know’ singer-songwriter getting candid with listeners on his latest track, ‘Superman’, which he penned for his son, Indigo, it looks like the country titan might be gearing up for his most personal album yet with I'm the Problem.
As a result, fans will again start speculating about who each song is about and constructing false narratives off the back of those. Thankfully, it's clear KT Smith remains unbothered by any followers’ attempts to criticise her through Morgan Wallen's lyrics.
