BigXthaPlug's long-teased country EP is quickly blossoming into one of the most eagerly anticipated projects of 2025, with a dizzying array of stars promised for the guest-list.
When the Texas rapper first started talking about the record towards the end of 2024, he referenced the likes of Post Malone, Morgan Wallen, Shaboozey and Jelly Roll as features.
We've since had the tantalising photo of Post Malone and ERNEST in the studio with BigXthaPlug, while Shaboozey revealed in his recent interview with Holler that he hasn't recorded his song yet, before underlining he will definitely be appearing on the EP.
Now, in a discussion with The Pivot podcast, Jelly Roll has seemingly confirmed his involvement in the EP. After reeling off a slew of artists that he'd love to collaborate with, the ‘Need a Favor’ hitmaker delved into his BigXthaPlug duet.
After naming a slew of dream collaborations with artists outside of the country space, including Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, GloRilla and more, Jelly Roll name-checked BigXthaPlug.
“Look, I got a record with BigXthaPlug coming for sure”, the Nashville native stressed, before light-heartedly addressing the camera, “I'm working on it right now, X, it's coming soon”.
Jelly Roll amusingly quipped, “Don't drop the album without me, motherfucker. It's coming, BigX! If BigX drops the album without me, he didn't watch The Pivot, y'all know that...”
We don't have a release date for BigXthaPlug's debut country EP just yet, but the lead single appears to be ‘All The Way’ featuring Bailey Zimmerman, which drops on Friday, April 4th.
The infectious, brooding heartbreak anthem has been circulating on TikTok for weeks, with BigXthaPlug teasing a snippet of the genre-blending link-up via social media on Valentine's Day. Hopefully ‘All The Way’ will pave the way for the full country EP rollout.
Elsewhere during his powerful conversation with The Pivot podcast, Jelly Roll touched on the biggest dream collaborations that come to mind, beginning with one that already happened when Jelly teamed up with Eminem for ‘Somebody Save Me’ last year.
Jelly Roll reflected, “Man, it was obviously [Eminem]...Man, that was a big one. So many. Miley Cyrus. I love Miley, and she don't do a lot of features and I know that, so I might not ever get it and I'm still going to love her the same. I would just love Miley”.
Jelly Roll warmly expanded, “Taylor [Swift], obviously, and I know it seems like I'm just naming the two biggest female artists ever, but in my defence, they both have Tennessee roots, to some degree. I know Taylor's from [Pennsylvania] but she moved here and went to high school here, and she bought a playground out in Hendersonville where I used to push my daughter on a swing-set when she was a baby, so she has that connection. Like, Miley's father and family grew up at a farm not far from this one right here...I just love that kind of stuff”.
The ‘Liar’ crooner added, “You know, man, growing up loving Memphis rap, I definitely want to get one with Moneybagg [Yo]...I definitely want to do one with Gotti, or someone like GloRilla, really. Actually Glo - Glo, let's do it. We talk about it all the time. Glo, let's do it...I love Glo. That's my girl. I was this close away from her being on my album or me being on hers...I had my people hit her and be like, ‘Yo, you here?’ and she was like ‘We just left’, and then she bang back like five days like, ‘I'm in LA, y'all here?’. We just kept barely scraping by, so...I love Glo. She's on red hot fire and it's so fun, and she's got such a good spirit about her”.
Jelly Roll then referenced two more modern heavyweights, “R&B SZA, you know what I mean? I don't think anybody's even getting close to what she's doing right now...and Doechii. Dude, what a killer, man. Her new record is so crazy. The record where she's talking to the therapist again, it's so fire...They're so innovative”.
Jelly Roll already boasts a stellar track record of collaborations, with MGK, Wiz Khalifa, Keith Urban, ERNEST, Skylar Grey, Halsey and more featuring on his widely lauded 2024 deluxe album, Beautifully Broken (Pickin’ Up The Pieces), and we can't wait to see who the ‘Son of a Sinner’ trailblazer decides to join forces with next.
