After Morgan Wallen announced that Canadian phenom, Tate McRae, would be featuring on ‘What I Want’ from his forthcoming studio album, I'm the Problem, fans have been eagerly speculating and wondering what the two artists will sound like together.

With Wallen hailing from the country world and McRae leaning more towards the pop sphere, it's been difficult to envisage how their sounds will blend for ‘What I Want’.

However, we might be able to get a clearer idea thanks to a new snippet that's been circulating online, supposedly featuring Tate McRae's leaked verse and chorus from ’What I Want’.

At the moment - particularly with the advent of AI - it's entirely possible that this is fabricated. But if it is legitimate and has indeed been taken from the real track, then ‘What I Want’ will seemingly see Morgan Wallen embracing Tate McRae's pop-R&B fusion.

The leaked clip is a sensuous, beat-driven anthem that finds McRae serenading a potential lover, as the protagonist cautions them that she always manages to “get what I want”.

The energising instrumental certainly marks a departure from the sparse, brooding style that Morgan Wallen has opted for across most of the I'm the Problem singles so far.

Even so, we know the ‘Love Somebody’ chart-topper is able to flit between genres with ease, and we've come to expect these experimental flourishes from Morgan Wallen, with Wallen having dipped his toes into trap, R&B and more in the past.

His latest single, the pop-inspired ‘I Ain't Comin‘ Back’ with Post Malone, which arrived on Friday (April 18th), epitomises the ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’ crooner's genre-blending tendencies.

Like we said, it's not yet apparent whether this is a false clip of ’What I Want’ - but either way, it's safe to say the anticipation remains sky-high ahead of this blockbuster duet. I'm the Problem is set to drop on Friday, May 16th, but we're hoping Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae might treat us to ‘What I Want’ ahead of the full project.

For the full lyrics so far to the ‘What I Want’ snippet, see below:

“I know, know, know I'll walk away and you'll look for me again

I can tell when you say my name

Can you say it again?

Right there, there, there we knew exactly how this night's gonna end

Feeling pretty in my tight skirt

Can't help if we get too close

Saying that I won't but anyone that knows me knows

-

I get, get, get, get what I want

And last objective's you

I get, get, get, get in a zone

And don't think that they do

Don't care if you're wrong for me

What's it going to show?

Where do devils come from?

I get, get, get, get what I want

And I'm so fixed on you”
