It's a longstanding joke within the country music world that, despite now being one of the biggest artists in the genre, Riley Green would always much rather be hunting than writing songs.

As he enjoys some time away from the road ahead of his 2025 Damn Country Music Tour, the man affectionately known as ‘Duckman’ has been spending plenty of time in the woods. However, Riley Green has taken to his Instagram Stories to share an update from the emergency room, after standing on a nail and requiring treatment.

The ‘Don't Mind If I Do’ hitmaker's mood remained untarnished, though, with Riley Green laughing about how his shoe had been collecting a surprising amount of corn from all the time spent in the outdoors, “At the emergency room ’cause I stepped on a nail...Impaled my foot, and when I took my boot off, corn fell all over the floor”.

Green went on, “The lady came in here wanting to know where all the corn came from. It’s from my boot. You don’t want me to take this other one off, either. It’s real-world problems!” The last quip feels like a nod to his 2024 Luke Bryan collaboration, ‘Reel Problems’, during which the duo list some tongue-in-cheek issues they've been dealing with of late, such as having too many “cold beers to crack”.

Hilariously - and perhaps unsurprisingly - there was only one question on Riley Green and his friends’ minds when the doctor was delivering her prognosis: when they'd be allowed to get back to the woods. Green teased, “Just hit us with it straight, Doc”.

When the doctor outlined that they can resume their hunting pretty much straightaway, we didn't think Riley Green and his buddy would take her assessment quite literally.

But of course, Riley Green's next Instagram Story found him perched in a tree alongside his bow, draped head-to-toe in camouflage gear while the snow falls around him. In the caption, Green light-heartedly remarked that maybe he has a bit of a problem when it comes to hunting, “Somethin’ might be wrong with me at this point”.

Riley Green kicks off his sprawling 2025 world tour at the end of March, with the ‘Different ‘Round Here’ singer-songwriter bringing his ‘You Look Like You Love Me’ collaborator, Ella Langley, with him, along with Jake Worthington, Vincent Mason and more.

Although he released his third project in the space of a year in October 2024, Don't Mind If I Do, it appears Riley Green's attention has already turned towards his next album.

The Alabama native shared a brand new unreleased song snippet, ‘What Am I Supposed to Do Now’, shortly before Christmas - reminding fans that, in all seriousness, they don't need to worry about him choosing hunting over songwriting.

If anything, the longer Green spends chasing bucks and ducks, the more song ideas seem to come to him - so we're hoping he's got a wealth of new tracks under his belt by the time he embarks on his Damn Country Music run of shows in a couple of months.
