‘Jersey Giant’ was written - but not released - by Tyler Childers over ten years ago and has since appeared on other artists’ setlists more than his own. Alluding to the fact that he had outgrown the song, Childers praised Elle King for her cover back in 2023, and was playfully positive when Sam Barber released his version.

Now, for the first time ever, Tyler Childers has played ‘Jersey Giant’ with a full band in his home state, Kentucky, at his colossal show at Kroger Field, Lexington, on 19th April.

“This has been a really big moment for me and these fellas. We’ve been talking about it and just how crazy it is. We thought we’d try something a little different, if that’s alright?” Childers mused.

“We never played this as a band and I haven’t played it in forever, so I might need your help,” Childers went on as he introduced his track. The crowd was a little quiet and apprehensive, but as the melody opened up and they realised what song was coming, the OG Childers fans went wild.

The ‘Feathered Indians’ singer is famously inactive on social media, but fans have posted videos in his honour, with comments soaring about how monumental this performance was.

A moment that has the potential to be a once-in-a-lifetime memory for the crowd that was there or the start of welcoming back a true fan-favourite, it’s clear that ‘Jersey Giant’ still remains one of Childers most loved unreleased tracks.
