How Ella Langley's 'Choosin Texas' Got Dethroned By Taylor Swfit's 'Patient Zero'

Ella Langley's historic 24-week reign at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 has come to an end. Her spot taker? Taylor Swift's 'Patient Zero.'
Ella Langley's never before seen streak at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 lasted for 24 weeks. In this time, the world watched as Langley gave more than enough fuel to both herself, and country music to prove this is both an artist and a genre that is only growing and doesn't plan on being taken away from the spotlight any time soon.
Climbing the chart slowly and remaining steady in that timeframe, the streak broke multiple records and brought Langley further into country music stardom - but of course, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end.
Taylor Swift has just entered at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 with her new single, 'Patient Zero,' knocking Langley to No. 2. The 'I Knew It, I Knew You' songstress released the song on Sept. 25, along with three other tracks from her 12th studio Life Of A Showgirl extended album, just as Langley made history for having the longest-running No. 1 song in the chart's history.
There is a certain level of fame where once reached, if an artist releases a song, they are almost guaranteed to spike in charts due to the typical focus on sales, streams, and radio play for that artist's catalog. We've seen this with Morgan Wallen with his hit 'Been By Now,' and so many others. Being that Swift is one of the most famous artists in the world, of course she is no stranger to this.
An artist as established as Swift, who has dabbled in multiple genres over the course of her career, can often snag a No. 1 spot in no time - that doesn't mean the battle for it is over, though.
When it comes to 'Choosin Texas,' what's done is done. The hit has already broken a record that will forever cement itself in chart history, grabbing the attention of radio personnel and anyone that streams music for a long time. The hit is a highly competitive force, with more than enough potential to take back the No. 1 spot. With the song holding over 570 million streams, it still remains at the top of multiple charts.
Of course, we won't have a solid take on how, or if 'Choosin Texas' will climb its way over 'Patient Zero' until we've had the time to watch the chart's activity in coming weeks, but we do know that it does pose the question of whether long-time stardom and chart performance is enough to sustain Swift against the chart-soaring weapon Langley's 'Choosin Texas' truly is.
