As well as touching on his hopes for a bucket-list collaboration with Future and his appearance on BigXthaPlug's new country EP, during his conversation with Holler, Shaboozey has offered fans an update regarding his long-awaited link-up with Morgan Wallen.
Rumours have long been circulating about the prospect of a momentous Shaboozey and Morgan Wallen duet, with the ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ hitmaker surprised fans by sharing a video of him FaceTiming Wallen via X (formerly Twitter) last summer.
Then, in recent interviews, Shaboozey has paid tribute to Morgan Wallen's impact on country music, donning him a “legend” of the genre when chatting to Billboard in December. In addition, the Virginia trailblazer revealed Wallen almost featured on his much-loved 2024 studio album, Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going.
Now, speaking Holler, Shaboozey has again addressed the highly anticipated collaboration, with the ‘Last Of My Kind’ singer-songwriter underlining that he hasn't found time to hit the studio with Morgan Wallen just yet, due to his relentless touring schedule.
The ’Anabelle’ crooner explains, “Man, I've been on the road so much I'm barely home or in Nashville or in the same place. If I'm ever in Nashville, it's an in-and-out thing, you know? We're either on tour, doing an awards show or preparing for festivals”.
Although there's nothing in the can at present, thankfully, Shaboozey offers fans reassurance that, when the time comes to return to the studio, he will be looking to join forces with Morgan Wallen, “So I think whenever I get some downtime and that opportunity and that free space to create some new music, I'll definitely get out there, and hopefully I can get something with [Morgan Wallen] locked in”.
While they have remained good friends, Shaboozey and Morgan Wallen spent a portion of 2024 locking horns, with Wallen's uptempo single, ‘Love Somebody’ briefly interrupting the record-breaking run of ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ atop the Billboard Hot 100.
You can't help but wonder, if ‘Love Somebody’ hadn't dropped when it did, then perhaps Shaboozey would have gained the extra week he needed to surpass Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ all-time Hot 100 record with ‘Old Town Road’. ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ ended up equalling its tally of 19 weeks, with the whiskey-soaked earworm remaining in the Top Ten today, almost a year after its release.
Due to their respective dominance over the all-genre charts and their shared ability to seamlessly blur the lines between country, trap and Hip-Hop, there's no question that a Shaboozey and Morgan Wallen collaboration would be a truly blockbuster event.
During his December 2024 Billboard interview, Shaboozey gushed about Wallen's artistry and the spotlight he's brought to the genre, “Morgan Wallen, he's a legend, you know. He's someone who makes great music and music that connects with a lot of people. So, as a country artist or someone who loves the space, I pay respect”.
He expanded, “I met Morgan and...he was a good homie. There were even conversations about him jumping on the record early on...it's cool to just to be able to know these people”.
Then, in February 2025, shortly before his discussion with Holler, Shaboozey once again confirmed that they have plans to collaborate, as well as toasting the lifestyle choices Wallen has been making of late, “Stuff's coming, man...He shot me a text the other day and it's just good that he's doing good, taking care of himself, putting out some new music that I feel like the world's excited and ready for as well”.
While we keenly await this star-studded duet, it looks like we've got plenty of solo material to come in 2025 from Shaboozey, with the genre-blending maverick confirming to Holler that he's got new music on the horizon, hinting that he might be about to build out Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going into a deluxe album.
After dropping the enchanting ‘Good News’ late last year and continuing to tease the unreleased fan-favourite, ‘Blink Twice’, it's certainly a good time to be a fan of the country prodigy.
2025 is already shaping up to be another incredible year for the chart-topping titan, with Shaboozey deservedly securing his first ever ACM Awards nominations this week for New Male Artist of the Year and Single of the Year for ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’.
