Shaboozey has taken to socials to announce the tracklist for his new album, The Outlaw Cheerie Lee & Other Western Tales, featuring a star-studded cast that includes Gunna, Kehlani, Jamie Foxx, Teyana Taylor, Leon Bridges, Orville Peck and Sam Elliott.

Shaboozey has revealed the tracklist via a short-film-inspired clip posted to his social media pages, which plays out as an old-western movie credit scene. The artist cleverly uses cinematic terms such as "starring" to announce features on the new concept album, which then transition to the anticipated tracklist acting as credits rolling at the end of a film.

Creatively, the 'Good News' crooner himself uses this approach of promotion as a means to play into the effective world-building of the album, which he has confirmed to be about the titular female character, Cherie Lee, setting out with a mind frame of vengeance for her father, who was shot and killed by the gang, "The Bootcut Boys." That ambition quickly shifts, however, when she finds herself falling for one of the gang members.

The album, which is set to release on July 31st, features the 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' hitmaker's two recent singles, 'Born to Die' and 'Cowgirl.'

Rather than being told from the perspective of Cherie Lee herself, 'Cowgirl', released in April of this year, tells a story of infatuation from perhaps the point of view of the primary male character, or Cherie Lee's love interest.

'Born to Die,' which was made available on June 5th, carries the essence of a cowboy on a wild night, letting go of his troubles and partying like there's no tomorrow.

The selection of these songs to be the lead singles of the record feels highly intentional from Shaboozey, with themes that are just versatile enough to draw in an audience that otherwise wouldn't have taken the time to listen to the broader story this album has to tell.

An artist that was shot into stardom from his viral 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' hit, this concept album feels like a bold and brave move for Shaboozey as he delves into storytelling in a way that isn't exactly linear to theories proposed about his creative direction.

Shaboozey consistently tests the sometimes-rigid boundaries of country music and pushes until there's enough room for other artists that also want to explore new sounds. Although undoubtedly charting new territory, The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales feels, in many ways, like a return to the world-building of his early records, such as Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die and Lady Wrangler.

Under the "starring" list of his promotional video, he announces collaborations with big names such as rapper Gunna, popstar Kehlani, modern R&B sensation Leon Bridges, and the dynamic country artist "Orville Peck." The sight of these artists to help Shaboozey tell the story was reciprocated more than enthusiastically by fans, with comments such as "WE GETTING SHABOOZEY x GUNNA" and "Crazy lineup."

Fans remain tremendously excited as Shaboozey steps out into uncharted territory, and while we don't know the full story just yet, we do know that where there's passion, there's great storytelling - and from the looks of these already-released tracks and the promotion so far, Shaboozey seems to possess both.
