ERNEST has shared a new Instagram photo of him in the studio alongside fellow genre-blending hitmakers, Post Malone and BigXthaPlug, with the caption ‘Texas 🤝 Nashville’.
BigXthaPlug has been hinting that he's working a star-studded country project for months now, with the ‘Change Me’ rapper teasing the forthcoming collaborative record with Complex in December 2024, “I got a country EP loaded up. You got Shaboozey, you got Morgan Wallen, you got Post Malone, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll”.
In a later interview with Billboard, BigXthaPlug revealed that both Post Malone and Luke Combs have cited him as their No. 1 rapper, with the Texas native underlining, “They claim I'm their favourite rapper. That's crazy to me! So yeah, we're definitely gonna work”.
ERNEST has been Nashville's lynchpin for cross-country collaborations in recent years, with the prolific songsmith helping to pen genre-blurring anthems such as Morgan Wallen and Lil Durk's ‘Broadway Girls’, Wallen and Moneybagg Yo's ‘WHISKEY WHISKEY‘ and a plethora of stand-outs from Post Malone's debut country album, F-1Trillion.
ERNEST started out as a SoundCloud rapper, dropping fiery, uptempo tracks such as ‘Dopeman’, with the ‘Flower Shops’ continuing to showcase his unrivalled sonic versatility on tracks such as his recently teased link-up with Snoop Dogg, ‘Gettin’ Gone’.
BigXthaPlug teamed up with country chart-topper, Shaboozey, in 2024, for the trap-infused ‘Drink Don't Need No Mix’, before recruiting another genre-fusing act, Jessie Murph, for ‘Holy Ground’, which arrived as part of the rapper's 2025 deluxe version of TAKE CARE.
There's no word of a release date for BigXthaPlug's first foray into the country scene as of yet, but the fact that ERN, Big X and Post Malone have now been spotted in the studio, it seems an announcement regarding the project is excitingly on the horizon.
