It was quite the night for Jelly Roll at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards on December 12 during the star-studded ceremony celebrating the best music and achievements from the last year.
To start it off, the Nashville native was surprised with his first-ever Billboard Music Award, presented by his best buddy Ernest for Top Hard Rock Song ('All My Life' feat. Falling In Reverse).
"Hey, bubba! I know you've got a show to play, but you just won yourself your first Billboard Music Award," Ernest offered after popping up backstage at a stop on Jelly Roll's sold out Beautifully Broken Tour.
Embracing Ernest and accepting the trophy Jelly Roll shared: "Thank you Ronnie Radke. Thank you to the fans and Falling In Reverse. This was all your brain child, Ronnie. You're one of the greatest artists that is so under appreciated and I hope this shows the world your credit."
He added: "Rock and roll never died. Rock and roll never forgets either."
Nominated for two other categories across the night – Top Song Sales Artist and Top Rock Artist – Jelly Roll showed off with two thrilling performances taken from a recent night on his Beautifully Broken Tour.
Starting with an emotional rendition of his vulnerable 'I Am Not Okay,' the country-rap maverick addressed the crowd, saying: “I see people crying and I see strangers wrapping their arms around them and spreading the love all throughout the building. I can feel the pain, and I can feel the healing happening.” The pain quickly turned to triumph, though, as the arena erupted into his anthemic 'Liar.'
Released this past August as part of his 2024 record, Beautifully Broken, 'Liar' peaked at No. 62 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, as well as hit No. 21 on the Country Airplay and No. 13. on Hot Country Songs.
Recognizing the top artists, albums, singles and songs in a variety of music genres from across 2024, the Billboard Music Awards are based on sales, streaming, airplay and touring data from the last 12-month period rather than being voted on by fans or a panel.
