“That’s the Place That Would Always Sell Out”: Eric Church Shares His Favorite Cities to Tour and Play Golf in

During a new interview with the Golf Channel's Vanity Index Podcast, Eric Church sets out the top cities that offer both a brilliant audience for shows, and a great golf course.

The Chief, who is an avid golfer and the founder of the annual Put a Club in My Hand Golf Tournament, which benefits MusiCares, chats to Jim Nantz and Chad Mumm while on the podcast about some of the best places to tour and hit the links in.

The ‘Drink in My Hand’ hitmaker begins by paying tribute to Minneapolis, where the interview was apparently filmed, “Well, now, I would say one of the best music towns for me, my entire career has been Minneapolis. It's been a place I could come. There's a bar here called Cabooze, and it's in downtown Minneapolis”.

He goes on to fondly recall playing this local watering hole, The Cabooze, for gas money, “When I didn't have bus money, gas money to get from town to town, we would play Cabooze over and over because that's the place that would always sell out. So to have this [course] here in this area, is really special for me. Boston, great sports town, but also a great music town, has always been really great to me”.

Church then shows love to his home-state of North Carolina, “Then for me, there's always that going home kind of show, and whether it's Raleigh or Greensboro, or Charlotte, just to be back in North Carolina, is always a special one to me”.

He makes it clear that he always appreciates his loyal ‘Church Choir’ fanbase, but these are three cities that stand out for him, “So I guess I'm not ranking, there's a lot of great fans in great cities. But for me, those are the ones that...were there for me early, and one of them's home. So that's how I would rank those three”.

With Church heading out on a blockbuster summer tour next year with Kenny Chesney, it's perhaps no surprise that he'll once again be performing in all three of these cities - Greensboro, North Carolina, as well as Foxborough near Boston, Massachusetts and Minneapolis, Minnesota as part of Chesney's Original Vibe Room run.

We're keeping our fingers crossed that, with Church releasing a surprise single, ‘On the Road’, earlier in September, this could mean The Chief is currently readying a new album.

Given how many fellow artists are also keen golfers, we think there's a shortage of golf-inspired country anthems. Hopefully Church has one up his sleeve for his next project...
