Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ is back at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, extending its record to 25 non-consecutive weeks, the longest run at the top in the chart’s history.
Langley’s hold on the number one spot was interrupted briefly by Taylor Swift’s latest release, ‘Patient Zero’, which held the title for three weeks, kicking ‘Choosin’ Texas’ back down to number two.
Langley has reclaimed the number one spot after Swift edged in there three times. 'Opalite', 'I Knew It, I Knew You' and 'Patient Zero' have all been knocked off the top by 'Choosin' Texas'.
The record-breaking hit recently celebrated its one-year anniversary, with Langley posting on social media to mark the occasion.
"This song… I am constantly & consistently amazed by what this song has done & how much y’all continue to love it," she shared, "You’ll never know how much it means to me & everyone involved in making it come to life, thankful is an understatement. Here’s to 365 days of madness."
The buzz of Swift's latest project, The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, seems to have cooled while Langley’s song keeps climbing, giving Swift a serious run for her money.
As the song's recognition continues to grow, it has us wondering...is Ella Langley generating a Swiftie-style following?
If ever we needed evidence that country music was truly having its global moment, this is surely it.
