After taking some time out to focus on her health and wellbeing, Ella Langley is back and raring to go, with the ‘you look like you love me’ hitmaker announcing a brand new single.
Having released the witty, rock-tinged ‘Never Met Anyone Like You’ with HARDY towards the end of June, Langley is following this up with ‘Choosin’ Texas’. The traditional-leaning, honky-tonkin’ anthem arrives this Friday (October 17th).
The Alabama native has shared a tantalising snippet of the forthcoming song, accompanied by grainy, retro footage from what appears to be the ‘Choosin’ Texas’ music video.
As shots of Langley drinking forlornly in a dive bar, choosing a song on an old-timey jukebox and being twirled around by a cowboy are interspersed with one another, a brief clip of the track plays in the background. Across a bright guitar instrumental, the ‘paint the town blue’ singer-songwriter croons, “He's choosin’ Texas, I can tell”.
It sounds like it's set to be a classic, George Strait-esque ballad that follows a star-crossed romance, with the cowboy forced to choose between his home-state of Texas and his lover. The title gives us a spoiler as to where his heart ends up - unless we get another big plot twist in a similar vein to ‘Never Met Anyone Like You’.
The unveiling of ‘Choosin’ Texas’ ensures the excitement surrounding Langley's next studio album, which is expected to arrive in 2026, remains through the roof. Fans of Langley's ‘60s-inspired duet with Riley Green, ‘you look like you love me’, will be pleased to hear her returning to this classic sound on ‘Choosin’ Texas’.
Over the course of her hungover and still hungover (deluxe) album rollouts, Langley has cemented herself as one of the most lustrous stars in the modern country landscape. Langley is predicted to return with multiple trophies from next month's CMA Awards, and is vying for a Best New Artist GRAMMY nomination, too.
