Ella Langley fans were sent into a frenzy when the ‘you look like you love me’ hitmaker kickstarted a mysterious countdown on her website, coinciding with an enigmatic message sent to her fan-club teasing that there may be new music on the horizon. The countdown is set to conclude on Tuesday, January 27th at 11am CT.

Langley confirmed late last year that she was planning to release her next album in 2026 - and now, it looks like we might be approaching the beginning of the official rollout.

There's no release date or tracklist in sight just yet, but we think we've spotted a subtle clue that could give us an indication of the title of Langley's eagerly awaited new album.

In the cover art for the Alabama native's hit single, ‘Choosin’ Texas’ - which is holding its own in the Top Ten of the Billboard Hot 100 - the animated car features an interesting number plate. It reads: “LW LGHTS”, with a dandelion sprouting in-between.

This might seem like a fairly innocuous number plate at first, but we think there's more to it. Langley teased an unreleased song back in 2024 called ‘Low Lights’, and we think the number plate is a hint that this track is about to be key to her new album.

Low Lights would be an incredibly cool choice for an album title, perhaps hinting at the challenging moments and tough nights that have accompanied Langley's rise to country stardom over the past couple of years, despite the lustre of the spotlight suggesting everything is always hunky-dory for the ‘nicotine’ crooner.

What's more, the dandelion feels like another hint at the imagery and core theme of the forthcoming project. In Langley's recent email to her fan-club, she tantalisingly writes, “Thank you for all the love on ‘Choosin’ Texas’. I've got a lot more coming soon that I cannot wait to tell y'all about. For now, stay warm with somethin’ simple to drink. My favorite these days is dandelion tea. Seasons are changing soon”.

Again, on first glance, this reference to “dandelion tea” seems quite innocent and irrelevant - but the dandelion on the ‘Choosin‘ Texas’ artwork has us and numerous other fans wondering whether this is an easter egg hinting at what's to come on the album. Additionally, the declaration that “Seasons are changing soon” could be a nod to a potential release date, perhaps on the first day of Spring - Friday, March 20th? We should caveat this by pointing out that Noah Kahan's new album is widely predicted to drop on this date, and it would certainly be surprising for two heavyweights of modern music to go up against one another in this way.

Of course, we have to highlight that this isn't the only thing fans have been pointing out about the ‘Choosin’ Texas’ artwork since its release, with many speculating that the blonde woman and the man in the cowboy hat is intended to represent Megan Moroney and Riley Green. The duo were spotted driving around Green's hometown in a very similar car to the one in this image, around the time that Green was being romantically linked to Langley. We don't know - and likely won't ever know - the truth behind this rumoured love triangle, but one thing's for sure, even if it was unintentional, it was a genius marketing move to hint at all the supposed drama with the seemingly pointed ‘Choosin‘ Texas’ artwork.

Fans will no doubt be trying to decipher every lyric and metaphor on Langley's new album, which will serve as the follow-up to 2024's still hungover, in an attempt to find some kind of veiled dig at Green or Moroney, or a reference to the alleged fling. Regardless of whether she addresses any of the conjecture or not, Langley's next album is already shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of the year.

Langley has been teasing new music across her socials in recent months, with the ‘paint the town blue’ singer-songwriter sharing a few shots from the studio in a November Instagram carousel, seemingly confirming she's been working on her new record. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed the Tuesday announcement is indeed the album unveiling, or at the very least, news of another single...
