Country superstar Cody Johnson just announced he has recruited a fellow celestial talent for his next single. The great Carrie Underwood will feature on the artist's upcoming 'I’m Gonna Love You', the two country heavyweights sure to knock us out with the new tune.
'I’m Gonna Love You', set to arrive Friday, Sept. 27, has been subtly teased by Johnson over the last week, the artist having shared a snippet of the earnest ballad to social media.
"Stars are gonna light up a midnight sky," the chorus plays against a piano-punctuated arrangement. "The sun's gonna burn on the Fourth of July / Tides are gonna turn with the pull of the moon / And I'm gonna love you."
Soon after teasing the song, though, Johnson also began hinting at an all-star guest, one he officially announced on Tuesday (Sept. 17) with a post on social media.
"Thank you [Carrie Underwood] for joining me on this one and making it so special," the star shared alongside news of the song's release date. "Can’t wait for y’all to hear it."
Johnson is no stranger to headline-worthy collaborations. His 2023 album, Leather, featured a pair of duets with fellow hitmaker Jelly Roll and genre legends Brooks & Dunn. As he perhaps readies the follow-up to the acclaimed release, we may soon be seeing a flood of new singles, and, if we're lucky, even more star-studded collabs from around the country genre.
