Carrie Underwood, Cody Johnson and Miranda Lambert all won big at the 2022 CMT Awards last night (4/11).

The ceremony was a star-studded affair, with one-off performances, huge returns and big wins for some of country's favourite acts.

Taking home both the Video of the Year and Collaborative Video of the Year Award, Carrie Underwood extended both her records for most CMT Awards won (25 after last night) and most wins for Video of the Year (10). The superstar won both awards for 'If I Didn't Love You', her collaboration with Jason Aldean.

Underwood would go on to perform her brand new single 'Ghost Story' at the ceremony, offering a glimpse of her Las Vegas residency show for those who have yet to experience her headline-stealing set, Reflection.

It was also a huge night for Cody Johnson, who's come full circle from moving back to Texas from Nashville to winning two awards for Male Video of the Year and CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year, for 'Til You Can't' and 'Dear Rodeo' respectively.

He would also perform, stoking up the crowd with his instant classic 'Til You Can't'.

Miranda tied up what has been a hugely successful 2022 awards circuit with a Female Video of the Year win for 'If I Was A Cowboy'. It's the eighth time Lambert has won the award, extending her record of CMT wins. She would go on to perform the song as well in front of the sold-out crowd.

In terms of unique performances, it was a memorable night for The Judds. The mother-daughter duo returned for the first time in over 20 years to perform their smash hit 'Love Can Build A Bridge' and announce their final farewell tour for this Fall.

Kacey Musgraves introduced them, saying "they're an undeniably iconic duo; their unique sound, prolific songwriting and non-stop perseverance made them one of the most successful duos in country music history".

The show-stealing performance of the night though came from Mickey Guyton and Black Pumas - who offered an emphatic version of the band's empowering hit. It was instantly deemed the best collaboration of the night, with Guyton and the band letting loose across the Nashville stage.
