Blake Shelton is back in the saddle again as he unveils that new music is on the way!
His long-awaited single, 'Texas,' will be up for grabs this Friday (November 15), marking his debut release with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville and Wheelhouse Records.
Capturing the tried and true country theme of lost love, the 2024 tune is meant to nod to George Strait's all-too-famous 'All My Ex's Live in Texas.' Wrapped up in classic Texas charm, as well as Shelton's signature tongue-in-cheek delivery and sincerity, 'Texas' was written by Johnny Clawson, Kyle Sturrock, Josh Dorr & Lalo Guzma, and produced by Shelton's longtime collaborator Scott Hendricks.
“The thing that struck me about ‘Texas’ immediately was how different it sounded for me, and I’m always looking to push myself,” Shelton explains. “I think there’s something really special about this record and important for me.”
It's been a bit of a turbulent year for the award-winning entertainer, who departed his longtime label home of Warner Music Nashville in September of 2024 after more than two decades with the company.
Before the month was up, he announced that he had instead pivoted just a few blocks down Music Row as he joined the BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville roster, which is also host to chart-topping acts like Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, Jason Aldean and plenty of others.
“This is the perfect opportunity to come back with something so different, and it easily felt like it should be the first single,” the Oklahoma native adds. “It’s connected with what I’ve done but moves forward at the same time, and it’s the perfect start to the next chapter of my career.”
With a whopping 29 No. 1 singles under his belt, all of which came during his tenure with Warner Music Nashville, it remains to be seen if 'Texas' will be added to Shelton's glowing catalogue of hits, including his most recent trip to the top alongside genre blender Post Malone on their hit duet, 'Pour Me A Drink.'
Shelton will be bringing the new song to the Jimmy Kimmel Live! stage on November 20, as he performs the song for the very first time and joins the celebrated late night host to talk about what's to come for the country superstar.
Next year is already shaping up to be another busy one for the 'Ole Red' singer as he plans to kick off his colossal ‘Live In Las Vegas’ Residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and his Friends and Heroes Tour in February 2025.
