Ringo Starr was in good company during his special showcase at Nashville's iconic Ryman Auditorium on Wednesday night (Jan. 15).
The second of his two-night stay was flush with country stars from around Music City and beyond, all of them there to celebrate the legendary drummer and former Beatle as he unveiled his latest collection of country songs from his new album, Look Up.
Among the night's special guests were Jack White, Sheryl Crow, Mickey Guyton, Jamey Johnson, The War and Treaty, Rodney Crowell and Sarah Jarosz. Larkin Poe, Molly Tuttle and Billy Strings, who all aided the 'Photograph' star in bringing Look Up to life, also made appearances throughout the two-hour-long set.
The album's producer and chief songwriter T Bone Burnett played the part of charming emcee along the way.
Throughout the star-studded night, the guests all took turns pulling from an expansive country catalogue, covering classics from greats like Carl Perkins and Buck Owens. Many also undertook hits that Ringo made famous during his time in The Beatles and throughout his solo career, like Molly Tuttle and her sugary take on 'Octopus' Garden' and Billy Strings with his skilled cover of 'Photograph'.
Several also took swings at some of Ringo's new numbers, joining the legend for several of the soon-to-be classics that appear on Look Up.
While Ringo came and went from the spotlight, sporadically joining his guests at the mic or behind the drum kit, he was front-and-center through it all. Everyone who took the stage had nothing but kind words and appreciation for the artist and his immeasurable contribution to music.
As a life-long country fan, himself, Ringo expressed how blessed he felt getting to share the stage with such talent.
The hit-filled event came to a close with everyone gathered onstage together – they were joined last minute by surprise visitors, country icons Emmylou Harris and Brenda Lee – to send the audience off with energetic choruses of the Beatles' 'Yellow Submarine' and 'With A Little Help From My Friends.'
It was a night of peace, love and country music that fans won't soon forget.
