Anyone familiar with Taylor Swift's modus operandi will know that nothing is accidental when it comes to awards shows, especially when it's the Grammys.

After wearing a black and white outfit to last year's awards, where she unveiled The Tortured Poets Department in a surprise announcement on the same night that she won the award for Album of the Year for Midnights, fans were waiting to see what Easter eggs her outfit for this year's awards would be hiding.

This year, attending the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday 2nd February - where Taylor Swift was up for six awards, including Record of the Year for 'Fortnight' featuring Post Malone and Album of the Year for The Tortured Poets Department - wearing a one-shouldered Kansas City Chiefs-inspired red Vivienne Westwood minidress, Swift accessorized the outfit with her customary red lipstick and a Lorraine Schwartz thigh chain peeking out from the slit of her minidress bearing a single letter "T" charm train and rumours begin flying about what it could all possibly mean.

Taylor Swift is known for hiding “Easter eggs” for fans within her looks, and although this could simply be a reference to her own name, it would be more likely that it's simply a show of support for her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce.

The verified fan account associated with Taylor Swift's management, Taylor Nation, shared photos of her outfit from last night's awards on X (formerly known as Twitter) and seemed to confirm speculation that the "T" is indeed for "Travis."

It wouldn't be unlike Taylor for it to mean something deeper though.

In the song 'Call It What You Want,' from her Reputation album, Swift sings, “I want to wear his initial on a chain 'round my neck, chain 'round my neck / Not because he owns me but 'cause he really knows me / Which is more than they can say," which would suggest “T” stands for Travis, but it could also point towards a re-recorded "Taylor's Version" of her 2017 Reputation album being imminent. Although the necklace referenced in 'Call It What You Want' was famously a Tiffany & Co. necklace bearing the letter "J" as an affectionate nod to previous boyfriend, Joe Alwyn.

It could also be a reference to a lyric from Swift's song 'Guilty As Sin' from The Tortured Poet's Department which includes the lines, "What if he's written 'mine' on my upper thigh only in my mind?"

More hopeful Swifties were hoping that the "T" necklace was an Easter egg suggesting a "Taylor's Version" of her debut self-titled album would be forthcoming.

The singer is still yet to re-record her debut album as part of a huge project to take back control of the master side of her back catalogue, after her previous label Big Machine sold the rights to Scooter Braun who then sold them on to Shamrock Holdings for a reported $300m. Swifties have been excited about the prospect of songs like 'Tim McGraw,' 'Picture to Burn' and 'Our Song' being given the Taylor's Version treatment.

One last possible reading is that Taylor Swift is just a massive High School Musical nerd and shipping Troyella with the "T" necklace; a direct reference to the "T" pendant Troy gives Gabriella in High School Musical 2 when they have this heart-melting exchange:

Troy: Hey, whatever happens, as long as we're together, it's cool, right?

Gabriella: You promise?

Troy: Here's my promise.

[Troy takes out the “T” necklace and places it on Gabriella]

Gabriella: "T" as in Troy?

Troy: Well, I... Yeah.

Let's hope that if it is a reference to this scene from the film, Taylor gets a more committed response from Travis Kelce than Gabriella did from Troy when he first gives her the necklace..

Although Taylor Swift has won the coveted Album of the Year Award on four separate occasions - with Fearless in 2005, 1989 in 2016, Folklore in 2021 and Midnights last year - she walked away from the 2025 Grammys empty-handed, despite being nominated in six categories.

She did still take to the stage during the evening, presenting Beyoncé with her award for the Country Album of the Year for COWBOY CARTER earlier in the evening.
