Singer-songwriter Alex Lambert has uncorked a doozy of a tune with 'Wine'.
Released Friday (Sept. 13), the rising artist's new single is a sweeping country-soul opus about drinking down heartache and washing away loneliness one glass at time.
"Just come help me drink this wine," Lambert desperately belts against a swelling arrangement. "Got enough to last all night / We don’t have to do this sober / I think you should just come over / We don’t have to fend no flame / We can just forget their names / Only for tonight / Let’s get this heartache off our mind / Just come help me drink this / Wine."
“Wine is an honest depiction of a man, wrestling with his own loneliness and broken heart, trying to drown his sorrows with a past lover who is doing the same with him,” Lambert shares of the track in a statement. “It’s the hard story of the things we sometimes run to in darker moments in search of some comfort and peace.”
With the new tune, Lambert announced his forthcoming album, Lonely Avenue, set to arrive Oct. 11. The 9-track project is a continuation of his Ride EP, which was released earlier this year and featured songs, such as 'My Story', 'Stroll' and 'They Don’t Come Better'.
