Noah Kahan's close collaborator and producer, Aaron Dessner, has paid tribute to the way Kahan brought the core story of Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping to life on ‘Draw You Out’. The haunting song serves as the lead single from the film's soundtrack.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Dessner muses, “It was an absolute honor and pleasure to help @noahkahanmusic write and record "Draw You Out" for the @thehungergames "Sunrise on the Reaping" which is out now......Noah found his way into so beautifully giving voice to the tragic relationship between Haymitch and Lenore”.

The producer, who has worked with Taylor Swift, Gracie Abrams and more, goes on, “...and as usual I got to play lots of instruments and soccer along the way. Thanks to @bellaicecream and @heyjonlow for engineering brilliance and @ryanhewittmix for brilliant mixing and as always @900x and @androidbarr for magical playing. It's never lost on me how lucky I am to be around such talented friends”.

‘Draw You Out’ captures the anguish and heartbreak Haymitch feels when he loses Lenore, a storyline that sheds light on why the former Hunger Games champion carries a tangible weight and darkness around with him in Suzanne Collins’ original series.

But while Kahan does a fantastic job - as Dessner highlights - of conveying this pain that Haymitch feels, he also allows a chink of light to stream through the black, gathering clouds.

He promises to keep Lenore's name alive (“I draw you out from the edge of my mouth / It feels good to say your name / It's all I have now and a wonderful sound it makes”).

It's a stunning offering that showcases the ‘Northern Attitude’ singer-songwriter's ability to portray some of life's thorniest emotions, such as grief and loss, in a way that feels strikingly novel and unique, yet unmistakably resonant and relatable.

After such a strong start, we can't wait to hear what other artists and songs make their way onto the Sunrise on the Reaping soundtrack, which arrives on November 13th, 2026.
