At his VIP set before his show at The Lyric in Oxford, Mississippi, last Wednesday 2nd April, Zach Top treated fans to an unreleased track off his sophomore album.
Introducing it as “a goofy little fun summertime song”, Top performed the seemingly titled ‘Good Times and Tan Lines’ to an intimate crowd, allegedly slating this to be the first single off his next album. Complete with quirky guitar riffs and memorable lyrics, the track is definitely one that would complement a sunny summer’s day.
The traditional-leaning trailblazer croons, “Talking ‘bout / Cold beer and a summer night / That was all there was to life / Good times and tan lines / Good, good times and tan lines”.
At RODEOHOUSTON 2025 earlier this March, Zach Top sat down for a Q&A with Spotify, during which he shared that a new album was heading our way very soon.
“It’ll come out at some point in the summer”, the ‘I Never Lie’ hitmaker explained, “I’m not sure exactly when yet, but there will be a new record coming this summer”.
Top also teased another unreleased track, ‘Flip Flop,’ back in January. Sonically, both songs lean towards the fun, beach-country sound and fans in the comments are excited, recognising influence from well-loved country music legend, Kenny Chesney.
Zach Top has been bringing the 90’s classic country sound back around and fan-favourites like ‘I Never Lie’ and ‘Sounds Like the Radio’ have been pivotal in his ever-expanding career...even Morgan Wallen listens to him. “I know who Zach Top is,” Wallen shared during his recent interview with Theo Von, “and I agree, he’s very solid.”
Zach Top is currently busy out on the road on his Cold Beer and Country Music Tour, which wraps mid-May, just days before heading out with Dierks Bentley on his Broken Branches Tour for the rest of the summer. Surely Top will want some fresh material to add into his setlist when he opens for Bentley, with the rollout for his eagerly anticipated new album seemingly - and excitingly - picking up pace.
