The Background
Tucker Wetmore launched the tracklist of this album on his back. Quite literally. He released the song titles as tan lines across his body in a social media post, firmly establishing this EP as a summery, beach country project. ‘Yours’ is part of the three unreleased tracks, and Wetmore has kept pretty quiet about any stories or inspiration behind it. Originally titled, ‘Your Song’, Wetmore teased it at his London show earlier this year, but has since edited the title to simply, ‘Yours’.
The Sound
With the crackle of a fire, Wetmore immerses us in the theme of the song. It’s a sun-soaked bop full of bluesy guitars and beach country steel influenced by his love of ‘yacht rock’. The Washington native’s smooth drawl drips over the track, further embedding this summery chapter in his music.
The Meaning
Wetmore’s ‘Yours’ is an ode to a lover that he’s been unable to find the words for. When teasing the song earlier this year, he shared that this was his version of a love song.
The song opens with the classic country cliches of songs about girls - their hometowns, their eyes - but Wetmore is desperate for something more, something truer to him.
Heading into the chorus, Wetmore paints us the scene where he fell in love. It’s simple, natural and a whole lot of country. From the crickets and the frogs to the yeti and the dog, the creek bank to the dock, Wetmore is head over heels for his surroundings. Or is he? He’s described his most perfect night and attributed his feelings to his lover making him “feel how it looks out here”.
He continues to her, explaining that “I don’t know the first thing about love, but I might’ve found it”. It’s somewhere between the end of the asphalt and the start of their kiss. Wherever he found it, he’s dedicated the song to the woman that makes him feel the way any country boy would feel in the backwoods…pretty damn happy.
What has Tucker Wetmore said about 'Yours'?
When touring over in the UK earlier this year, Wetmore teased the unreleased song. It was originally titled, ‘Your Song’ and he introduced it saying, “I’m a lover boy at heart, and I don’t really know how to write love songs, so this is kinda my version, if I was able to write a love song".

-
Campfire fire crackin' with the crickets and the frogs
Moonlight shinin' on a Yeti and a dog
Couple little ripples rollin' off of this dock
Heartbeat skippin' like a creek bank rock
Can't find words but it's midnight clear
You makin' me feel how it looks out here
So, girl, go home, turn your radio on
And tell everybody that this is
-
Do you like how it sounded?
With the birds and bees and breeze and the trees all around us
I don't know the first thing about love, but I might'vе found it
On your lips, in these sticks wherе the black top ends
I ain't sure how to say it, but here I go again
-
Campfire fire crackin' with the crickets and the frogs
Moonlight shinin' on a Yeti and a dog
Couple little ripples rollin' off of this dock
Heartbeat skippin' like a creek bank rock
Can't find words but it's midnight clear
You makin' me feel how it looks out here
So, girl, go home, turn your radio on
And tell everybody that this is
-
This is your song
Coming out of them speakers
While you're Birmingham bound
And every time you hear it
You'll think of us right now by this
-
Campfire fire crackin' with the crickets and the frogs
Moonlight shinin' on a Yeti and a dog
Couple little ripples rollin' off of this dock
Heartbeat skippin' like a creek bank rock
Can't find words but it's midnight clear
You makin' me feel how it looks out here
So, girl, go home, turn your radio on
And tell everybody that this is your song
-
(This your song, this your)
(This your song, girl)
(This your song, this your)
(This your song, girl)
