The Background:
In the years since his departure from surf-pop duo, Surfaces, Forrest Frank has established himself as a maverick within the Contemporary Christian Music space. Forrest's joyful, uplifting 2026 single, ‘OKAY!’, epitomises this, with the Texas native writing the song over an Instagram Live, before recording and releasing it within a week.
Since its arrival in early May 2026, judging by early figures on TikTok, ‘OKAY!’ appears to be on a similarly stratospheric trajectory to Forrest's 2024 hit, ‘YOUR WAY'S BETTER’. The vibrant ode to trusting God's plan, even when life feels messy and off-track, was co-produced by Forrest alongside ELEVATION WORSHIP's Josh Holiday. ‘OKAY!’ is expected to feature on Forrest's next album, which is rumoured by fans to either be titled Child of God III or The Jesus Generation.
The Sound:
Forrest has become synonymous with his penchant for bright, summery and genre-blurring compositions, with his sound being aptly described as “Bible study on the beach”.
‘OKAY!’ is a prime example of the jubilant, rose-tinted ambience that permeates the ‘NOTHING ELSE’ singer-songwriter's catalogue. The track opens with Forrest's vocals drifting across a lively guitar riff, with a galvanising drum pattern gradually entering the fray. Then, as he reaches the realisation that, even though everything feels out-of-place, he can trust that everything will work out for the best thanks to God and Jesus, the instrumental gains vivacity and energy.
The introduction of layered vocals in the hook helps to give it this added sense of celebration, with ‘OKAY!’ a faith-filled earworm we'll have on repeat for the foreseeable future.
The Meaning:
Although Forrest sometimes focuses solely on the comfort, reassurance and gladness he receives from God and Jesus, creating a wholly joyful atmosphere in his music, ‘OKAY!’ begins with a candid insight to some of the frustrations that can obscure our walk with faith. He starts by expressing his exasperation as he drowns in a hectic schedule of business-calls and energetic children causing a mess.
From this relatable origin-point, though, Forrest outlines his soul-stirring solution: “Somewhere in the mess, I look to You / And a new song starts to break through”.
Rather than filling up his mind with disgruntled thoughts and minor inconveniences, Forrest turns his attention to an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for the fact that he is even alive today. He thanks God and Jesus for allowing him to wake up and experience life, and as he meditates on this, he gets the warm feeling that everything will turn out just fine, no matter how “messy” it all seems now.
Regardless of where you stand spiritually, it's been proven time and again that practising gratitude is an incredibly powerful tool for overcoming feelings of anxiety and worry, and this principle lies at the heart of the ‘NOTHING ELSE’ crooner's new song.
When you instead focus on and list things you are grateful for, whether it's something seemingly small such as having hot water access or something deeper such as being able to spend time with loved ones, just by filling our attention with feelings of gratitude, it shifts our mindset. While feeling grateful, it's often argued that it's not possible feel other negative emotions - like worry - at the same time.
Forrest's message, of course, is more theologically-minded, with the PARTY WAVE member laying out in ‘OKAY!’ that his newfound peace of mind comes from God. Through his prayer life and his relationship with Jesus, he finds deep comfort and joy.

“Lord, I'm just grateful that I got to wake up today
You take my worries and hurries and fade 'em to grey
You have good plans for me, that's what You say
That's how I know everything is gonna be
-
I woke up late and the house is a wreck
Couple bills on the counter, I don't wanna check
The car needs gas and an oil change
I guess I'll get around to that next
-
'Cause my son's doin' front-flips on the floor, and
I'm supposed to be a silly dinosaur
Somewhere in the mess, I look to You
And a new song starts to break through
-
Lord, I'm just grateful that I got to wake up today
You take my worries and hurriеs and fade 'em to grey
You havе good plans for me, that's what You say
That's how I know everything is gonna be
-
Okay, yeah (okay)
We're gonna be okay, yeah (oh, yeah)
Okay, yeah (okay)
We're gonna be okay, yeah
Uh-uh, na-na, yeah
-
I stayed up late, scrollin' on my phone
'Cause I said I needed space to be alone
But now I'm stressed out and overstimulated
Trying hard to not lose my patience
-
'Cause my kids are makin' murals on the wall, and
I'm supposed to take another business call
Somewhere in the mess, I look to You
And a new song starts to break through
-
Lord, I'm just grateful that I got to wake up today
You take my worries and hurries and fade 'em to grey
You have good plans for me, that's what You say
That's how I know everything is gonna be
-
Okay, yeah (okay)
We're gonna be okay, yeah (oh, yeah)
Okay, yeah (okay, yeah)
We're gonna be okay, yeah-yeah, yeah
Here we go
-
I tell my worries, "You gon' have to go away"
I tell my body, "You gon' praise the Lord today"
I know my haters, they gon' have a lot to say
But I keep on goin' and turn the cheek the other way
-
I tell my worries, "You gon' have to go away"
I tell my body that you gon' praise the Lord today
I know my haters, they gon' have a lot to say
But I keep on goin' and turn the cheek the other way
-
I tell my worries, "You gon' have to go away"
I tell my body, "You gon' praise the Lord today"
I know my haters, they gon' have a lot to say
But I keep on goin' and turn the cheek the other way
-
I tell my worries, "You gon' have to go away"
I tell my body that you gon' praise the Lord today
I know my haters, they gon' have a lot to say
But I keep on goin' anyway
-
Lord, I'm just grateful that I got to wake up today
You take my worries and hurries and fade 'em to grey
You have good plans for me, that's what You say
That's how I know everything, know everything is gonna be
-
Okay (okay)
(We're gonna be) okay, yeah (oh, yeah)
Okay (okay)
(We're gonna be) okay, yeah (oh, yeah)
-
We're gonna be okay (okay)
We're gonna be okay, yeah
We're gonna be okay (okay)
We're gonna be okay, yeah (oh, yeah)
-
We ain't gotta worry (okay) hey
'Cause we ain't gotta worry (oh, yeah)
No, we ain't gotta worry (okay), ah”
