When you’re as big a name as Tucker Wetmore, music release announcements don’t need all that much fanfare - and that’s what the singer has done with his new EP, Sunburn Mixtape. Taking to social media to announce the project on July 11, he didn’t give fans much time to prepare for its July 31 release date - evidently, this one needed to be out in the world with as much summertime left as possible.

The sun soaked collection of songs has been getting a whole lot of attention with Wetmore’s advertising strategy being… himself. Saturated photos of the singer shirtless and beach-ready have been characterising his social media recently, making it clear that the Sunburn Mixtape is destined to be on summer playlists.

Wetmore has been flying higher and higher throughout 2026, having been traversing across the globe on his Brunette World Tour. Combining that with racking up millions of listeners, and being named the ACM New Male Artist of the Year, Wetmore has unquestionably become one of the biggest names in the genre. With hit songs like ‘Sunburn’ and ‘Proving Me Right’ already being huge successes, the EP is already proving to be a promising addition to a quickly growing discography.

Serving as a follow-up to his 2025 debut album What Not To, the expectations for the EP are high, and fans have been digging into the lyrics since the release of the first single. After being spotted together on holiday in the British Virgin Islands at the end of 2025, rumours of a romantic relationship between Wetmore and current country It-girl Ella Langley have been flying, with many thinking that ‘Sunburn’ could be inspired by Langley herself. With that in mind, and given how other tracks on the EP also revolve around a mystery girl - including ‘Crazy To Yourself’ - its release is guaranteed to spark those speculations up again.

Sticking to the summer vibe, Wetmore leans into a sunshine soaked country-pop sound on ‘Crazy To Yourself’. An electric guitar melody in the intro and outro frames the song, with Wetmore’s distinct vocals coming through in uptempo rhythmic lines.

As whole, the EP sits somewhere between Morgan Wallen and Niko Moon, leaning into a synth-heavy vibe, and a distantly country rhythm played out on tropical sounding percussion.

As the song kicks off, it sounds as if our storyteller - Wetmore - has been watching this mystery girl and can’t stop thinking about what she might be hiding. Although she might be good at masking her reactions - like a poker face after taking a shot - Wetmore is sure that there’s something more to her, he just needs to find out.

As he directs his thoughts straight to her, saying that she’s “pretending you’re shy”, it’s starting to sound like Wetmore might actually know more about this girl than he was originally letting on. Is he hiding something too?

Although he prefaces the chorus by acknowledging that he “might be wrong, but”, it sounds as if our singer and this girl might have already spent some good times together, turning off from “real world” responsibilities and instead, jumping in rivers, drinking and doing the classic country thing - dancing in a set of headlights.

Taking it as far as outrunning trains, though, he really does depict this girl as somewhat “crazy”, and like she’s making no attempts to keep it to herself when Wetmore’s around.

This mystery girl has been showing a side of herself to Wetmore that perhaps only he knows. Whilst many songs describe women as being “crazy” in a negative sense, using it as a point of character critique, Wetmore is asking this girl to let that crazy out - it’s the side of her that he wants to see.
