If you're off to The Long Road festival this summer, then here's our Holler guide for what to bring with you and what to expect when you get there.

Hot dog eating competitions, woodland walks, cocktails, barbecue, old cars, live performances and late-night karaoke and bingo.

It’s all going on at The Long Road, and these 10 tips will help you be as prepared as possible.

The Long Road will take place at Stanford Hall, Lutterworth, Leicestershire, LE17 6DH, from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th August 2022.

If you see us say hello. Holler will be there all weekend!

The Long Road

Your ticket

We know it’s obvious, but there’s always one. So, don’t forget your ticket! You don’t want be that person who turns up at the wrong gate and has to ask everyone for a hotspot so they can download their tickets, while the rest of us are lying back in the grass with a Buffalo Trace and swooning over Jonathan Terrell.

If you don’t have a ticket yet, there is still time to buy one.

The Long Road Festival App

There’s so much going on at The Long Road this year you might want to turn up with your schedule already planned out on The Long Road Festival app.

You don’t want to miss any of the Marty Stuart and his Amazing Superlatives because you went for a nap in the woods, or lie in on Saturday morning and turn up too late to get a table at Buddy’s Good Time Bar.

The app is available on both Apple iOS and Google Android, and can be downloaded here:

A dog

Yes, that’s right! Your faithful little furry friend is more than welcome at The Long Road. Assuming they're a dog. Don’t turn up with your hamster.

Dogs will not be allowed onsite unless they have a pre-booked ticket or are an accredited assistance dog, though.

Dog tickets are still available within each eligible ticket type on the ticket page. If you don’t have a dog there’s still time to buy one of those too!

The Long Road is full of exciting entertainment, including the all new Dog Park - free running exercise field to take your dog into.

But don’t forget your dog’s welfare - there are lots of water points throughout the site for you to fill your dog’s water bowl and make sure to give them shelter from the sun.

Maybe you’d enjoy our Holler Country Songs About Dogs on the journey there too. Click here to listen.

A little bit of booze

(but nothing crazy)

You’re allowed to bring in either 1 x 70cl spirits (no greater than 40% ABV) and 12 x 440ml cans beer and cider, or 12 x 250ml cans pre-mixed spirits / 3 litres of wine and 12 x 440ml cans beer and cider.

You can’t take any food or drink into the main arena except for a sealed bottle of water.

No glass is allowed anywhere on site so make sure you decant it all into plastic containers. Oh, and you have to be over 18, obviously.

Swimming costumes

After all that hot country music you’ll probably need to cool off with some wild swimming, so don’t forget to pack your trunks and cossies! You don’t want to be splashing around in your undies.

Holler is unclear on the Long Road’s policy on skinny dipping, but best to assume they would prefer you wore something.

Binoculars

No, not so you can perv on everyone wild swimming! For all the wonderful wildlife you can spot on a magical woodland walk around the grounds of Stanford Hall, of course!

The surrounding ancient parkland is alive with nature, wildlife and majestic oak tree-lined avenues - and you’re free to wander through it to your heart’s content. Just don’t let us catch you in the bushes down by the lake, grandpa!

Rennies

You’re probably going to need them after all those hot dog eating contests and ugly cake competitions, especially if you jump straight into the dodgeball and square dancing on the showground afterwards.

Your best singing voice

Not only will you want to sing along at all the shows, there’s also the chance for you to be the star of the show yourself at the Long Road’s famous after hours Country-Oke.

Don’t worry if singing isn’t your thing either, you’ll still have plenty to shout about at the Country Bingo.

Sun tan cream, hat and sunglasses

It’s looking like being an absolute scorcher in Leicestershire this weekend, so bring plenty of sun tan cream and anything else to help you keep cool.

But probably best to bring an umbrella too. It is England after all.

Jumpers and warm clothes

The forecast might be good for the bank holiday weekend, but as we draw closer to autumn it does get a little colder in the evenings, so pack accordingly.

Don’t go crazy though, to maximise the safety of everyone attending The Long Road, all customers may be subject to a thorough security check when they arrive, so pack as light as you can.
