Rascal Flatts were ubiquitous on the airwaves throughout the 2000’s, with the country-pop outfit becoming synonymous with their cover of Tom Cochrane's 1991 single, ‘Life is a Highway’, which served as the theme-song for Disney Pixar's 2006 movie, Cars.
Alongside this, the group - consisting of Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney - amassed now-iconic hits such as ‘Bless the Broken Road’ and ‘What Hurts the Most’. In July 2026, ‘Life is a Highway’ became only the 17th country song in history to surpass one billion streams on Spotify, after seeing a resurgence in popularity due to being one of the official theme-songs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
